Its gross, especially when they have no human children.

I have some friends whose employment benefits include services for their pets.

I don’t use the words “fur baby” or “dog mom” but I use “pawrent” on social media because it’s cute. I also refer to myself as “Frankie’s mum” when I call her vet or her day care. I think “Frankie’s owner” sounds terrible. She’s not my property. She’s also not my child, obviously. Something in between. I do love her as much as the humans in my life, and she certainly sees me as her caregiver.

It sounds weird to me when people refer to me as my cats’ “mom” but I don’t care what other people use to describe themselves.

We call my ILs dog “uncle Toby”, and DHs second brother.

I don’t care how people describe their love and dedication to their pet. I think the world needs more love.

Well, I tell my (human) son that she's his sister. The sister is my elderly tabby. I'm kind of kidding, but not really.

No, but I'm strongly attached to my pets as a parent type relationship.

I had a dog named Kyle that did training on Tuesday nights. I had to leave work at sharp 5 to make it on time, and would tell everyone I had to take Kyle to class. I didn't realize until much later a lot of people thought Kyle was my son.

My vet calls me "mom" should I correct them?

That depends, is your vet also your child?

It's a bit much, but it sure doesn't do me any harm.
