Also TAL, Anatomy of Doubt which is the story that became the basis of the Netflix show Unbelievable.

The first season of In the Dark about the abduction (and angled investigation) of an 11 year old in Minnesota in 1989.

Yes, these are all amazing!

Love TAL. Have listened to the switched at birth episode multiple times!

Pre-9/11 episodes of TAL are my comfort listens.

The Dropout series about Elizabeth Holmes is very well done.
I binged listened to all 6-8 episodes over one weekend and now I am obsessed with the trial.

I don’t like any podcast focused on a crime. Too stressful for me.

I thought the duolingo Spanish podcast about the singing grandma was one of the most beautiful stories I’d ever heard. They have a lot of really wonderful stories, and they are done in Spanish/English so you can sort of follow even with no Spanish.

I also really liked the freakonomics podcast from last year about the development of the covid vaccine. Really interesting and gave me so much insight into why they could do it so fast.

TAL, Cars: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/513/129-cars
"We spend a month at a Jeep dealership on Long Island as they try to make their monthly sales goal: 129 cars." I have little interest in cars and even less about sales, but this was fascinating (and a little lighter than many of the others mentioned).

That Cars one is great. Also agree on the original Serial.

Bari Weiss’s episode on The Central Park Karen. Really fascinating.

Any history podcast by Dan Carlin.

The second season of In the Dark- the story of Curtis Flowers is all that is wrong with the US. I couldn’t stop listening but it is incredibly frustrating.

The Promise from Nashville Public Radio. It’s about the history of desegregation and segregation in Nashville schools. It’s really eye opening and well done.
