It is just like the other clinics they run only on a hard court. As far as ranking goes it is probably similar to throwing a team together and playing in some league without training. Both of those scenarios you would play futsal once a week.

But it is well below the ID program or other high level team that you see at the regional tournaments. Those teams will train twice a week in the winter and have 1-2 games per week.

Futsal really helps those good athletes who don't have the best technical ablility. I would recommend it.

HP Elite will also be offering futsal training again this winter I believe. I suspect Tue/Thu at the Fieldhouse in Chantilly.

There are a lot of different levels in futsal and there are futsal specific programs that cover a wide range of commitments, the lowest of which just play in a winter league and do not train. the highest of which are futsal academies that train year round 1-2 days per week and run futsal specific tactics.

Does Alexandria league have MoCo teams(practices in MoCo)? It not fun to drive from MD to Va around 5m during week day.

There was also a Fort Touch Futsal League somewhere. Not sure if that still exists. The only one we know is Alexandria.

I tell anyone who asks, futsal is one of the best developmental activities for a younger player who is looking to improve. There are a bunch of older boys now with DCU and ARL who started playing futsal together at U11 or so and it had a huge impact on their development. Granted, it’s just a component of the entire training year, but it’s valuable.

Great Falls Reston has a futsal program run by Gus Donolo who has done futsal around the DC area for years and has numerous national championships. Don’t need to be a GFR player to enroll. Training 2x/week from Nov-Mar for 90 minutes each in Herndon & Sterling. Focus is tournament play - VYSA State Cup, USYF Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Richmond & Atlantic Regional in Spooky Nook, PA. Info is on GFR website. Training is real futsal, not just indoor footwork on a basketball court.
