I know. There's a new post about another hate incident at one of these schools every couple of weeks. It's like clockwork which is unfortunate. I feel this would be a lot less frequent if these schools were more diverse.

My mixed son is at WJ, attended a Bethesda area elementary and middle school, and never once had issues with race or heard racist comments.

Please remember that DCUM is not an accurate representation of reality.

I believe that people in Bethesda are hyperaware of race and that’s why you hear it discussed. My son’s friend is in a lower-income MCPS cluster, and has described astoundingly racist situations that go unaddressed by the school, despite parental complaints, just because there are more pressing issues the school has to deal with, like drugs and gangs. My son’s friend actually left MCPS in part because the school ignored complaints.

It's more than a few. Particularly on college campuses.

My WJ kid and I were upset to hear about the graffiti. I look at it as an attack on the whole community as well as the specific groups mentioned.

Any idiot with a spray paint can will do, but the pedestrian bridge that got graffitied is in the WJ cachement area, so it could be a student or just a neighborhood person

Just wow. Focusing on the few incidents of people of color faking this type of stuff over the very real and very pervasive bias incidents committed by white people (usually male).

That's like focusing on the few fake sex assault claims when 90% of real sex assaults are never reported.

Nothing bad should ever happen in these good schools in the "best" school district. Some of us purposely keep our kids out of these schools and don't want our kids bused in.

100. Diversity makes people kinder and more intelligent, creative, and innovative. Standardized testing should not be the primary measure that determines a 'good' student

That's certainly what has happened since redlining was made illegal. While progressives shriek about sEgREgAtiOn it's really just toeople living where they choose to love, not where progressives want them to.

As for what I said earlier, there have been several "racial incidents" that were perpetrated by minorities, amouting to Jussie Smollet-like hoaxes.
