That's an interesting take about Abbey's mom. If you watch David's sisters, you can see they are happy he's with Abbey. Most parents of special needs kids worry about their future, especially after the parent is gone. She's not foisting Abbey upon these people, they genuinely love her, as does David. Yes they do love her but it’s really unfair of her mom to say she’ll be ok bc she has a rich boyfriend. Boyfriends aren’t forever. Abbey seems like she could live in a group home and get a paying job, like Tanner does.


I didn’t take this as meaning financially at all. More as feeling like who is going to care about love / accept them fully / root for them / support them / help them navigate life. She’s happy she’s not everything for Abbey anymore


She said when she’s dead, I assume she meant financially. But even for support, David’s just a boyfriend. She’s not his or his family’s responsibility

Why would Abbey need to live in a group home? She could easily live alone.


Bc I assume even if she did get a paid job it would be minimum wage and it’s very hard to get an apartment on that. That’s why I said group home, or roommate situation.

I loved seasons 1 & 2, and now my husband and I will watch the American version.

I want to watch some of the Australian version with my HFA son.
