My dog slept in her crate for the first year. Then Covid happened and we went to stay with family, and she was upset sleeping in her crate while I was right there next to her in the bed. (She was used to me going upstairs to bed at home). So, I let her up on the bed with me. That was a year and a half ago, and we've slept in bed together every night since. I doubt she'll ever let me have a partner but she's way better than any man could ever be.
She goes in her crate when I leave her home alone, and often hangs out in it when we're home together. It's safe and cozy and she likes it. When it's my bedtime though, she sleeps in my bed with me.

Our dog is crated when we leave the home only. When he was a puppy we planned to have him sleep there as well, but after about 3 months of no one in the house sleeping because he would screech all night, we gave up on that. Funny enough, he always goes in his crate to nap (voluntarily), and when he sees us getting ready to leave he will proactively run in there and wait for the door to be closed. He also likes to go in there when he is sick. I really do think he feels it's a safe space, but he is a very human-focused/velcro-y breed and if we are home likes to be with us.

In hindsight I do wish that we had been able to train him to be happy in there when we were home, but the combination of the horrible noises and lack of sleep was too much for us.

We have a crate with a nice bed both upstairs in the bedroom as well as downstairs. They can come snuggle a bit in the morning on the bed but otherwise have their own bed.

Unless there a is reason to crate like destructive behavior, why would you crate? I don't think it solves the noise issue. I'd use a fan for noise.
