I think I got a 1010 as my highest SAT score. I was terrible at math and not so great with timing. I have 2 graduate degrees. Most schools are test-optional now so that's to his benefit.

Maybe schools like Iona or Marist

We liked Old Dominion, Lynchburg and Roanoke. Or Marymount, Shenandoah, Frostburg.

I had a similar gpa and that exact SAT score in the 90’s. I have a PhD. Some of us take a little longer to bloom. Things have changed in college admissions since then, of course. However, if he wants to go to college, there are school that will accept him and give him the opportunity to mature and flourish.

There are also many good in state options in VA— old dominion, Radford, Longwood, uva-wise.

Private full-pay, he could get into basically all of them but Washington and Lee, U Richmond, and Hampton.

What was the dream school before they had an awakening that it was not an option?

There are lots of options - and ways for your child to have a very successful college experience. And I think very valuable that they learned now that they need to adjust their plan.
