I have a feeling OP is embellishing the story. One of the parents probably mentioned something about how they were going out to a brewery or a wine bar while the grandparents watched the kids, and now the story has blown up to “they’re getting hammered every weekend.”

It is disgusting. They are unfit parents. The grandparents should sue for custody of children with limited and supervised visitation by parents. Getting drunk means more to them than their children.

So what is your point, OP? It isn’t my thing, but it is their thing. They are doing it responsibly AND making grandparents happy. I love that they have support and still do stuff together.

The difference is that they are stating their plans to get totally wasted. Not calling it date night or whatever. And the grandparents think it’s cute or healthy.

Do you tell your parents that you’re planning on getting “totally wasted”?

Guess it's better than taking the kids with you to get drunk.

I have more drinks than usual on date nights with sitters or grandparents babysitting. Not a hammered amount but a healthy buzz. The only weird thing about this scenario is the bluntness of the phrasing lol

This sounds normal and nice to get a weekly break.

They all sound immature but that’s life. Their problem, not yours. As long as it has no consequences to you, find something else to be judgey about because if you look deep, there’s a personal reason this bothers you

It's not great, but DCUM has a lot of problem drinkers who will tell you to MYOB, and that you are a pearl clutcher etc,

I think this is kind of wholesome. They have a vice but they’re responsible about it and making sure their kids are safe and cared for. Good for them!

Oh yes. Definitely cry worthy. What a poor dysfunctional family.
