I agree the beginning of the year feels disorganized as kids are trying out different classes to find the best fit. The upside to that is there are lots of classes and the school actually cares about finding the best fit. I’ve learned to relax and roll with it. Overall, DD’s teachers have been excellent and supportive. The culture at the upper levels is intense, which is to be expected. At the lower levels, it’s more relaxed. This is not unique to CityDance. I think when you are comparing schools, it’s important not to compare professional prep programs with recreational dance programs. They don’t have the same vibe.
No body does unhealthy intensity like CD. Stay far away.[/
Pre pro dance is intense. CD is not much different from MYB or TWSB in that regard. Conservatory music is intense too. And travel soccer. You must be the poster who hates CD but has no real experience with the school.
How much are they paying you?

We’re looking for a dance program/studio for my 8 yo DD. She used to do competitive gymnastics 16 hours a week so we’re looking for a program that offers some rigor so she’s not bored. Our main goal is to find a fun and challenging school BUT ALSO one that is supportive of her emotional/physical needs too. Gymnastics was great in building her work ethic and strength but it also led to us putting her in therapy with anxiety from her coaches. Any suggestions for strong programs that are also loving environments in the MoCo would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Your 8 yo dances for 16 hours a week? She needed therapy for anxiety brought on by dance coaches? And you are looking for a place where she can be "challenged"? At 8 yo? This is insane.

She is older so perhaps the younger levels are where you've experienced issues. She has received good instruction and lots of extra time to correct a lot of mistaken information she was taught at prior studio. She has improved as a dancer enormously since joining this studio. Agree the parking lot isn't ideal but I always find parking easily. The shows have been, in my opinion, impressive even when they were forced to do last year's spring show online. Not sure what your experience has been but my daughter loves it!
