I'm waiting. I drive a 2011 Chevy HHR with 219000 miles, daily! I was going to buy a new car this year for my 50th bday, but with prices so high and the HHR running great (and long paid for) I can't justify it.


Would like a Kia Niro plug in hybrid, possibly. Defenitely want hybrid next for the mileage. I can't even find one on a dealers lot where I live.

Yes. Have a 2011 Honda CR-V with 150k on it...usually upgrade my cars every 10 years so it's about time, but anything I'm considering is overpriced. Will wait awhile.

This was not our experience at all. Our used car is worth maybe $2-3k more, the new car is worth $7k more.

We are waiting, but pretty annoyed about it.

Same here. I was initially planning on getting something at the end of this year, when your other "new" car was paid off, but for now I will keep driving my 11YO banged up minivan for at least another year. Getting a new car was a nice to have, not a have to have, so I am OK waiting. Plus, we are doing minimal driving now anyway, since both of us WFH pretty much full time. Why get something new just to have it sit in the driveway?

No, I bought a porsche a few months back at several percent under msrp and special ordered an audi a couple of months ago at MSRP. I sold one of my used cars at barely below the price I paid for it new 3 years ago, and expect to do the same with another car once my audi order arrives.

I am waiting partly because I can’t justify buying a new car and partly because I want my next car to be an EV and there’s always more/better EVs around the corner (Hyundai, Audi, VW etc).

Jeep dealers appear to have decent inventory being shipped, I wonder if that is why I see tons of Wranglers on the road now.

We sold a well maintained, fully paid car during the pandemic because I wanted DH to buy a new car for himself that had newer safety features. We did not realize that there would be a shortage of cars. The worst thing is that our old car is now the hottest commodity in used car market.

We needed a new car but DH would rather shoot himself in the foot literally than pay more because of inventory shortages. Thankfully, we got a wonderful new car with all the bells and whistles, name brand, reliability, prestige etc, under MSRP and with discounts, in the color and trim he wanted. We had decided that we would wait as long as necessary and find creative solutions if we could not find the car that we wanted at the price that we wanted.
