People have been giving advice based on the information that was given in the OP. No one knows other than the OP about the early damage (nor is that anyone's business), but you can't say people are being too harsh based on the situation since no one knows the detailed situation. There's been some good advice on this thread, just ignore the posters you think are too blunt.

I worked for a woman who fit this profile. Very attractive and a nice person. She needs to take time to heal and learn how to be happy with herself before going on another romantic journey. The person I am describing left the area to a place where she always wanted to live, got more involved with tennis, and seems to be doing well. And not dating anyone.

I am hurting, just ended a relationship with someone I cared DEEPLY about, we never fought or really hurt each other, just had to lay it down due to some fundamental differences and because the other person needed to do some searching.
