My buddy is a grad student in Boston and wants a car for local errands and road trips around the Northeast (skiing, driving to ME/NH/VT on the weekends for hiking, drive to Montreal, Cape Cod, etc.)
I told him to look for a RAV4, but not sure he can get a reliable one in that price range.
Can he find an old AWD Subaru? Those things last forever.
This is my plan for my daughter as soon as she gets her permit. Price these out a few months ago and you could definitely get one for under 10 grand.
reliable cheap used subarus are hard to find, actually. And you have to be careful of the head gasket issue.
