If tux is too formal, then black pants, white button down and a fun vest.

Two things to consider:

1) No clothing is inherently gendered. Your child might feel more comfortable in clothing that isn’t feminine, but wearing, say, a floral print doesn’t make them any less non-binary.

2) Non-binary is not a third gender. Your child isn’t obligated to appear androgynous.

Other than that, I’d say doc martins, corduroys, the color green (I dunno, apparently it’s an enby thing), mushrooms, and fashion colored hair.

DC shops mostly at target. Target really does have great stuff. But it is more fun (and feels better) to get things on Etsy.

2 weddings and one "formal" church event with my very conservative parents. The church event is the one I'm dreading because when they don't show up in a dress, my mother will flip out.


Let your mother flip out. Because she'll have to do it eventually. Warn your kid ahead of time "Grandma's going to flip out when she sees you're not in a dress, but Dad and I are totally Team River and support your fashion choice 100% okay? So don't be freaked out by Grandma's freaked-outed-ness."

My daughter refused to wear a dress for her middle school graduation. She wore black dress pants, a black button down shirt, and a pin in mint green that she liked. Maybe your kid would be comfortable in something like that?

Because the majority of the pants suits my kid has found are very feminine and for girls/women. I'm not sure you understand what non-binary means.

They do, but as I mentioned it's hard to find formal non-binary clothes for events.
