The majority of my immediate family is vaccinated. Those who are vaccinated are not seeing unvaccinated relatives or friends (we're from Indiana). For those that are not vaccinated because of excluding conditions, they agree that we should not have unmasked interactions because we could, inadvertently, infect them not just with COVID but other illnesses. For those who are unwilling to trust science, we avoid in-person meetings completely. We respect their right to make the decisions they feel are best for them and expect them to respect decisions that are best for us.

Trumpy? My one neighbor is a D and not vaccinated. That one says we are guinea pigs. In the family some D and some R were line jumpers and others include non-vaccinated. Explain how some Bernie Bro relatives aren't vaccinated.

We didn't go to an invite family event because we were told vaccines weren't required and it would be indoors. When it was too late -headcount in- we learned it was outdoors and vaccines required.

We look at vaccines as risk reduction like wearing a seatbelt or not driving drunk.

I know - I guess they shouldn’t get in the car with Grandma or go swimming with their Uncle ever again. Those are some really risky behaviors!! Listen - my kids may or may not get covid. I know the risks and gasp - the science. You have a very unhealthy fear that is likely more toxic to your children’s well being than covid.

I agree with everything in this post, except one thing: your kids will get covid, whether vaccinated or not. We all will, eventually, since it’s not going away, ever.

My parents haven’t gotten vaccinated, for reasons I don’t agree with. But, that choice is on them. I’m certainly not going to ban them from visiting us and their grandkids. The risk from Covid to our kids isn’t something I’m really concerned about.

Thankfully I don't have this problem since my entire family is vaccinated, but I think that you can play this a few different ways. You can use this situation to put pressure on your family members to get vaccinated if they want to see the kids or you can just use this as an excuse not to visit with relative that you would prefer not to see anyway.

I don't have an unhealthy fear. I would just never choose to put someone's else health at risk because of my behavior. That's MY choice. You apparently feel differently. But I didn't come on here to complain about being shunned by family, did I? No one in my family is shunning me or my vaccinated 12 year old. But you do you. How's that working out for you?

We have a vaccinated relative from Florida coming who takes zero precautions. We (vaccinated adults) will hang out with the person indoors but our kids will only see the person outdoors.
