Honestly, I think you sound a little crazy. My kids loved their all about me things- all you do is just glue a few pictures or draw something- takes literally 5 minutes. Our school turned them into placemats and my 9 year old still uses it. And the family photo? The kids love showing their classmates their family. I really do not understand this post.

Today I was supposed to send in a family photo. Like, I'm supposed to go develop a picture at CVS for this? Hilarious. I just printed one on our B&W printer from my phone.

Yes. That was I did. Also - we went from one pre-school who didn’t do these things to one that did and it is a much better school. I am glad the teachers are engaged.

This. Our new preschool does these things and it is much better than the one that didn’t. And yes. I ran to CVS to print out pictures. School is not just a place you drop off your kids - it is a team effort.

You don’t have an extra family photo laying around. What are you, vampires? If this simple request is that difficult for you now, you may want to consider home schooling your child through high school. It’s sad when I read petty gripes like this from other parents. Check yourself. Poor teachers.

I think there’s a real generational divide as far as this stuff is concerned. Yes I would absolutely have to drive to CVS to print a photo. And I don’t have time to do that on a school night.

It’s kind of bizarre that you think people who don’t keep print photos in the house at all times shouldn’t send kids to school. That’s really weird.

I’m there with you OP. It’s annoying but honestly I tried to think of it as helping to introduce homework to the parents because my son is now in first grade and he has homework every night. And projects from time to time too… Only one night to work on it is where they really failed IMO.

It isnt annoying. Its more akin to a project for a first grader IMO. It was meant in jest like jeesh this is only the beginning of all the to-dos related to school . I remember being a kid and asking my mom constantly for stuff we needed to get for projects or science fair or stupid assembles where we had to dress as a historical character. I have other strengths as a parent....doing hokey sh** like this is not one of them. But I have pictures of every single piece of art he has ever done at school on a private instagram and I hang up his "art/work" as it comes in every month and on days where his daycare is closed randomly we have mommy-son days and go for big adventures.

I am very invested in my child and he is never at daycare for more than 8 hours because of the way we stagger our schedules.

I also dont have photos of us lying around. My family was never big on "family" photos and the ones we send in- that have to be printed (no text or email with this teacher) - are usually me grabbing my DH and kid while we are on a hike or at the playground.

I think it is funny the vitriol of the responses as if doing projects like this are important and somehow formative for a 3 year old.

We have 2 hours at night to do play, dinner, bath/books, bedtime and is this really age-appropriate or are the parents just expected to do it? How much stuff comes home? Tell me straight cuz I dont want my kid to be the only one without the project completed but damn, this feels like parent homework .

I am going to have to get over this arent I?

I did this my son and it was fun. We did get a week to do it though. We had some random magazines (catalogues). Also cut out a picture from the frozen pizza for food. Scribbled a crayon on a page for favorite color. Drew stick figures for families. Found a picture of the beach in the AAA book for favorite place.

It came out cute and one of the few things I saved from those years.

Ok I agree that homework is inappropriate for three/4 year olds. But firstly this is not homework and secondly yes go to CVS a lazy POS.

She couldn't ask if she could send one in via text from her phone? Probably didn't ask; just wanted to complain.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, this is homework for the parents, since it's only age-appropriate if the parent actually does 99% of it. Irritating.

This. My preschoolers wouldn’t get anything out of this activity.

Jesus Christ. You warehouse your kid there for 10 hours a day and then you can't be bothered to do a small project or send in a photo so your poor kid can see an image of you during their long day not in your care?

Pathetic. I feel sorry for your kid and the teachers who have to deal with you.
