Coaches have full time jobs, taking care of their children/family, dealing with their own personal issues on top of coaching a team of 20+ teenagers who are juggling the pressures of academics, friendship groups/social. athletics, mental health etc. there’s so much sacrifice that both coaches and players give and all parents care about is their own kid getting playing time, being the star and accolades. That’s what brings a team down when you have over engaged parents who want it more than their kids. As a parent myself, I am thankful to have a coach who dedicates their time to a program and watch an entire class graduate from Freshmen to Senior year. Most don’t stay after a couple years when they find out it’s not worth the headache. Look at all the top programs as it clearly shows the consistent success of a team when a coach stays for 4+ years. Enough of my Ted talk, go thank a coach. It goes a long way.

Any insight on how much time a typical HS varsity coach devotes to the team compared to a dream coach? For example, are most coaches maximizing all practice opportunities? How many coaches are regularly scouting opponents? Are coaches regularly communicating with other coaches for game prep? I have some insight on one team, but curious what everyone else thinks.

Fire Victor? You're an idiot. He does a very good job, cares deeply and puts up with the idiot parents like a champ.

and if he were to leave who are you going to replace him with? Coaches are not jumping out of the woods to coach teams.

Look no further than Centreville this year as an example of what can go wrong. The head coach left and all her coaches left with her. They finally got a coach at the last minute and this was the case with a solid team.

Rec is bouncing back from the Covid years but it's a slow, uphill battle but it'll happen but the damage has been done by kids sitting at home.

If you think it’s hard finding players to fill teams these days, try finding a coach. Finding an assistant or JV coach is even harder. +1 - seriously! I can't imagine being a high school coach at a public school and having to deal with parents like these people. It is a thankless, time-consuming job for very little pay.

And comparatively, Bucky was better than 99% of the coaches out there today (and that's not a good thing...)

As a Patriot Conference parent at a different school, we are happy and encourage Lake Braddock and West Springfield to keep their coaches.

Now if Woodson wants to fire their coach, we strongly urge you to do so, preferably by April 28th.

That I understand. Everybody wanting the West Springfield coach to be fired or the woodson Coach to be fired is total bullshit. as a former coach in the county there has to be other reasons why you would want somebody fired from a current position.
