Are you talking about closing Wootton or just rezoning some to crown? They’re completely different issues
I'm the poster you replied to. I'm talking about not moving Wootton to Crown, but going with another option and rezoning Wootton.
MCPS gave Wootton the option of staying together and adding Fields Rd. But because of the petition they will probably not do that.
But I hope they now rezone Wootton (not just Dufief but everyone in Crown's vicinity)
Move Travilah to QO.
Move Dufief to Crown.
Dufief, Travilah, Fallsmead, Fields Rd, Brown Station, StoneMill, Rachel Carson - no one should get any special treatment - move them all to the closest high school even if it means a split articulation.
House of cards
They need to restart boundary process to do that as none of the options have these.
Most likely it’s still crown as holding school. Mark my words

I would say that’s probably true. Many of them are split up between Wootton and Churchill after middle school anyway. We are extremely close to Wootton. Would have no problem with some movement where other very close in schools got redistricted to Wootton and those much further out redistricted elsewhere-but I want the school where it is.

You need to get a life. Fantasizing others suffer is just evil.
Going to Gaithersburg HS is "suffering"?
Sounds like we need more people with money to have a stake in the game.
Forcing students to be bused miles away from a high-performing, stable school to a lower-performing school is no harm? Longer commutes, disruption to their coursework and supporting peers are real impact on our children.
It will be good for them to get out of their country club bubble wrapped existence.
I don’t think you have ever actually been to a Wootton neighborhood. Because I have lived in one for 10 years and don’t know a single family who is privileged the way you think they are. And I certainly don’t know anyone in my neighborhood who belongs to a country club. I really think you must have us confused with Whitman or private schools.
If your response to attending a HS 3 miles away is "Fantasizing others suffer is just evil".... you need to get out more. Your kids will benefit. Exploring their world more than 2 miles beyond their home might give them an awesome college essay topic.
And Lakewood Country Club is right by Wootton.
People pay hundreds of thousands and live in much smaller houses than they would otherwise to be close to schools. This is reality you can go into Zillow or redfin. Take Urbana for example. Houses around Urbana HS are much smaller and cost much more than ones even a mile or two away.
We happen to be shopping for house now. This is the reality. House half a mile from the schools costs the same as one two miles from the schools but is older, half as big, smaller lot, etc.

Replacing the Wootton building with the Crown building, and rezoning some to Gaithersburg and RM.
Wow at first it’s Wootton is just moved there
Then it’s we’re just adding crown
Then it became we are adding fields road
Then we need to rezone Dufief and cold spring
Now it’s rezone some to Gaithersburg and RM
We knew it. It’s not just moving Wootton to crown. It’s closing Wootton and spread Wootton assets around.
