She was cheating on Scott Foley with him for over a year, as her and Scott didn't separate until 2003 and divorced in 2004. Ben probably thought he was safe by sleeping with a married woman - no commitment required. Then she divorced for him and trapped him with the pregnancy. He's still bitter about it. Scott Foley is the only lucky one here.

Scott foley has said there was no cheating. Maybe he’s only saying it because he’s a nice guy, or to save face if it’s embarrassing for him, but don’t know why he wouldn’t skewer her nice girl reputation if she had in fact cheated.

Also, I believe she dated Michael vartan between scott foley and ben affleck. So Michael vartan would be the one she cheated on while filming daredevil, if there was cheating involved. Wasn’t daredevil a 2004 movie?

but he didn't get sober! he was continued to drink after the divorce. I kind of agree with you that he didn't mean to blame garner but his whole theory does not make sense at all. he didn't start to drink during marriage and didn't stop after it.

2+. If possible, he actually seemed demonstrably less interested in the kids than in Garner. Otherwise put, perversely, I think if he had not associated Garner so much with the kids/motherhood, the (romantic) bloom might not have come off the rose so fast. (If nothing else, I think narcissists enjoy being the center of someone else's universe and she was certainly willing to play that role... pre-kids.)

So I thought she cheated on Scott Foley with Michael Vartan and then dumped Vartan once Ben became available after the enagagement to JLo ended. I do think she had her eyes set on Ben the whole time and she’s a cautionary tale to be careful what you wish for.
