I think that Affleck likely THOUGHT he wanted to be a family man in that moment when he found out JenG was pregnant. So, he tried to play that role for a while (like my friend's ex did). Discovered it wasn't all it was cracked up to be or whatever his excuse was. So he gave up and moved on, but she is left with the 3 kids he probably never should have created with her.
This is true. Garner used the old trick of pressuring marriage with a pregnancy, this is the moment when Ben should've called it quits.
I never said that these women got pregnant to trap or pressure a guy to marry them. It is such a sexist assumption that a woman does this on purpose.
I never said you did .

Know what the worst thing is? I don't think he is into his kids either. Remember all those pictures of him and Jen G together when they were a couple and he was always looking bored/not into her/so completely different of his pictures with JLO (or even when he was pictured with Gwyneth, Ana, any other girlfriend)? He has that same look when he is pictured with his kids. That bored, not really into them type of look. He seems much more animated/has more of that look with JLo's kids.
ITA with this. It's just the same old story. He was never really into her, she got pregnant because she was desperate to get him, he never planned to be the family man, stayed because he wanted a son but kept cheating etc. etc. Don't forget that Garner was married when she hooked up with him in Daredevil in 2002. She was cheating on Scott Foley with him for over a year, as her and Scott didn't separate until 2003 and divorced in 2004. Ben probably thought he was safe by sleeping with a married woman - no commitment required. Then she divorced for him and trapped him with the pregnancy. He's still bitter about it. Scott Foley is the only lucky one here.

He basically said they were having problems, he was unhappy, and instead of behaving responsibly he drank. And that if he'd stayed in the relationship he would probably not have gotten sober.
That isn't a criticism of Jennifer Garner, its just probably an accurate perspective on his feelings. She could be the greatest wife ever (she kind of seems like she was!) and still be not totally right together. Love doesn't always work like that. Someone isn't 'good' or 'bad' because another person falls in or out of love with them.
I think Ben Affleck has made a lot of poor choices, but I think talking about his sobriety and the difficult path to get there isn't one of them. Maybe it will help someone else on a similar journey.

Because it’s a lot easier to play part-time Disney Dad than to actually parent full-time.

Garner and Affleck really have nothing in common. He allowed PR machines and potentially racist family members to influence a choice that quite frankly should've been made by none other than himself . This union should've never happened . Therefore , all things considered, why would anyone be surprised that a deadbeat of his caliber fails to show any contrition and instead plays the victim by arguing that he felt trapped ?
The one thing they have in common is a wish for a stable, traditional nuclear family. Wasn't enough to make it last, but I think they both very much want that.
Good lord ! Where do I begin ? I'm not sure which is scarier; your cluelessness or the fact that you genuinely believe the crap you wrote . Ben Affleck is not and will never be a family man . The core of his split from his ex wife is precisely because he wouldn't behave like someone with a wife and kids . Yet, here you are literally saying the dumbest thing possible, its like you live in an alternate universe or something.

Wow, that is a really personal ad hominem attack on a random stranger on the internet with an opinion. Seek help.
