But instead, she just HAS TO PEE RIGHT THIS SECOND OMG SHE CAN’T EVEN HOLD IT FOR TWO MINUTES…. What is that?? Is it supposed to be a side effect of her painkillers? My husband has had two quite serious back surgeries with all kinds of heavy opiods, and this peeing issue was … not a thing.

I guess it did make the scene kind of funny, though, along with the “this is awkward!” music. I thought the kitchen scene itself was very hot. (And wrong, messed up, troubling… but still hot!)

Was thinking the same thing! Why couldn't she just wait a few before trying to get out of bed? Only explanation is that Carrie is so self centered and what she wants to do, everyone else has to follow immediately.

Okay? I think you're not the target audience. There are a lot of othere shows -- and other threads -- though. Maybe you could go over there?

Also, the Miranda story seems to be trying to mirror the actor's real life, right? So did she struggle with alcoholism, too?

That storyline is so stupid and gross. The girlfriend is such a self-righteous twit, and the son is a disrespectful turd. It defies understanding how any parent would allow this. My sense is that this kind of garbage happens when parents bend over backwards to be sex positive.

Why is she living there? She talked about her mom in the past tense so is her mom deceased? I need an answer for why she is living in their son's bedroom and they are openly and loudly sexing and Miranda and Steve are bothered by it but don't say anything. None of that makes sense to me.

They haven’t really said but I’ve been figuring that it’s a David-had-to-move-in-with-Darlene-on-Rosanne sort of situation.

I think they should explain it if just even in a throwaway sentence or two because as it is the whole thing is weird in a not a good way. OR maybe as someone said earlier this is the writers trying to skewer "woke" parents?

I am. Woke-ified TV shows and movies want you to believe that all parents with a trans kid are like YAAAAAAS NON-BINARY KING OR KWEEN I WILL USE YOUR CORRECT PRONOUNS AND NEW NAME PERFECTLY FROM NOW ON. Charlotte and Harry had (imo) normal concerns and were more angry about the school not telling them.

I agree with this. And it’s perfectly normal for good parents to mourn a bit during the challenging transition.

I think they are asking the right questions. My DD had 2 friends at 12 change their name and said they wanted to be boys. It turned out to be a phase and they are back, at 14, to wanting to be girls and going by their original names. Of course some kids know they want to transition and know it young, but clearly some kids are experimenting and that is okay too. I thought it was a reasonable approach from the parents.

Agreed. At an age where even radical experimentation is normal, it's important to keep an open mind but also be prepared for any number of phases that will come to an end.

Go to counseling. Talk it out. Don't immediately cheat on your dh with the first person who makes you feel exciting. (And I think that's truly what it is; she met someone cool so now she feels like she's boring.)

I liked the way they handled Charlotte and Harry's talk with the school. They showed the nuanced reaction normal parents would have instead of the "OMG I'M SO EXCITED TO HAVE A TRANS KID" reaction progressive media wants everyone to have.

Honestly asking: can you provide some links to media sources (not blogs or entertainment “news”) that “wants” parents to have an “excited” reaction? Please post a few links that aren’t editorials. I mean, you must be able to find examples of this to write this, correct?

This series is strange. The women seem to be out of the 50s. They wear fancy day dresses to cut veggies in their kitchen, none of them seem to work out, and they are into smoking.

The combo of the gray hair and the bad teeth is just unwatchable. They should fix one or the other. I don’t need to see the “sexual awakening” of the cat lady down the street.

Her hair looks fine, the cut especially is great for her face shape. The teeth are atrocious and always have been.

But she hasn't done much aside from quit her job and develop a drinking problem to get out of it. She full on admitted to Charlotte a few episodes ago that she was just as responsible for the lull in her marriage as Steve. I would be more sympathetic if she had said she had tried to revive their sex life but he had given up or something. But she said both let it happen and neither notice.

She is very privileged to be able to quit her job, go to school, and still live in that ridiculous apartment in NYC.

Good Lord. She worked a demanding job for years and paid for that apartment HERSELF. Is she supposed to work until she's in the grave?

Oh I'm fine with her quitting. It's the whining I have trouble with.
