+1 The prep community attend the same schools, churches, country clubs and summer areas. It's like Groundhog Day.

We looked at both schools and felt Landon had a more diverse student body and it seemed that the legacy thing was not a big deal. Our son has been very happy at the US.

I think that's a small minority of the athletes you are talking about. There isn't that much overlap.

I understand that the Landon parents don't like this "rivalry" very much and have anecdotes that suggest it doesn't exist.

You're incorrect. I know athletes from both schools who've said the same thing.

Thats the absurdity of this rivalry. The antipathy is fueled by the non athletes, families and institutions. While the athletes compete fiercely against each other, they respect each other and often end up having a lot in common as decent human beings and student athletes. they used to become good friends in college when they really got to know each other. now, with club sports, they get to know each other earlier and become friendly.

I don't know how the Landon people felt. But from the Prep side it was layer upon layer of strong dislike.


My son graduated from Landon, played soccer and lacrosse. He actually rooms with a GP graduate in college and trust me they are close. Heck I had a few GP kids over at my beach house a few weeks ago with several Landon kids.

Can you shed some examples as I think your view is might be a little outdated?

That's just the lacrosse part of it. It was always based on football but pretty much extended to everything.
