I despise Mad Lax but its has nothing to do with my family being Catholic and I belong to BS.
I'm not the PP, but I think he/she wasn't referring to being Catholic and disliking Madlax. He's probably referring to the close-knit Catholic lax community and how few of them play for Madlax. I think it has a lot to do with Club Blue. The guys who run CB are tightly associated with Mater Dei and Prep and they don't have any love lost for Madlax or its owner. They probably don't care for the guy when they've coached against him either.
He does have a point. CB guys seem to go to Blackwolf and a few others but very few end up at Madlax. And those in HS appear to be loyal to the Prep team that plays out of season.

Many of their kids were at there pre tryout camp.Plus my son talked to his friends and many said they were switching

Bethesda Travel would work but only through 8th grade. Most of the issues people are talking about refer to HS club teams where there are less options for having the kind of experience you are looking for.

Next Level is run by the Heights coaching staff now.
Mad Lax seems to send kids all over to high school - mainly privates but also has a fair amount of kids who just want to play for their public school team.

If you're in the NoVa area there are clubs such as EKLC, Evergreen and NovaWest that aren't as competitive as some of the "top level" club programs out there. At the 5th grade level, it should be more about skills development anyway.

First of all, none of these clubs are "feeders" to a HS. If your son just wants to play lacrosse, he can always play just rec.
If you/he wants more reps and it sounds like you live in Montgomery County, you could try Performance. The talent isn't very strong, but the guys who run it are good guys.

might explain why so many mater dei kids have left club blue for the Crabs or Mad Lax.
CB has always taken a bizarre approach.
Fathers are way too involved and if you decide your son doesn't want to attend GP for high school, your son will start to see less playing time and individual instruction.

Question about girls' lax clubs - taking driving distance and effort out of it completely, if a middle school girl had an offer from a top DC area team (Stars) and a top Baltimore area team (Skywalkers), which one would help her grow and develop into a better lax player?
