It’s disgusting that the trouble makers want to foment sectarianism once more in the Levant. It failed in Palestine and it failed in Iraq and it failed in Syria. Arabs know who the troublemakers are
Yes Israel. Without Israel the Middle East would be peaceful. Too bad terrorists like Israel continue to go unpunished. The only reason Israel did not invade Egypt was because Turkey said they would come in on the side of Egypt. Right now Israel is violation of the Egypt Israeli peace treaty with the occupation of the Philadelphia corridor.
Hopefully the Syrian with Russian will aid the Lebanese against the invading Israelis.
This is so sad. Why can’t Israel be happy with what they have? They have a beautiful country and still want more. They should accept a two state solution and Palestinian politicos that support that (Fatah/West Bank) instead of the ones that want a one state solution (Hamas).
Now, they covet Lebanon and the extremist settlers who reside in the West Bank say they need Lebanon. Wtf? Manifest destiny is not going to work for them. Israel is not the U.S., and Muslims are not Native Americans with natural tribal and linguistic divisions. Sunnis and Shias pray together in Lebanon. Christians and Muslims have lived for centuries and both speak Arabic. They both eat the same foods and listen to the same music and say the same name for God (Allah). Allah is Arabic for God and said by Arab Christians.
Israel takes advantage of the U.S. including our presidents complete lack of knowledge about the region. In 2003, the Us’s first strike was on an Iraqi church. Pres Bush famously didn’t know what the difference between Sunni and Shia.
It’s like someone dividing the US between Catholic whites and Protestant whites. It’s ridiculous. If Christians spoke a different language, I can understand how ethnic distinction and divisions could be made but in the end, Lebanon in particular will be a hard country to crack with civil war. Israel will try with all their might but if it failed with Palestinians and Syrians, it will fail
There as well. Israel may have their own civil war in the next 5 years. They should be more concerned about what. Netanyahu has torn the country apart
You need to accept Israelis never wanted peace, not since THEY assassinated Rabin. And that wasn't some anomaly - that's most of the country's mindset.
America allowed Israel to become this. People keep making excuses for Israelis by saying it's only Bibi. No, it's the overwhelming majority. Those protests you saw a while back were about THEM being free. They're fine with being violent occupiers and land thieves. Israel is destroying itself and as an American of Palestinian descent who know first hand how repugnant they behave, it's karma as far as I'm concerned.
This is such crap. Jews have only wanted peace - they’ve been under constant attack for centuries by Islamist invaders.
Israel - in its modern form - is no exception. Israel wanted a two-state solution. Hamas / PLO did not - they wanted literal eradication of all Jews, including those in Israel. And, of course, Israel gone even though it’s Jewish indigenous land (that Islamists stole).
Israel has the right to defend itself.
Why didn’t Israel defend itself against Germany?
Israel does not desire peace. It desires dominance. Israel does not want a two state solution. It wants regional collapse
When did Germany attack Israel?

Analysts who examined videos of the strike and its aftermath at The Washington Post’s request said the damage was consistent with the use of multiple 2,000-pound bombs."
The current issue is not about Israel's right of existence, it's about the right of Palestinians and Lebanese people to live.
On 10/8 Israel could have chosen to fortify its defenses while examining the root of why Hamas held so much anger, working cooperatively with its neighbors to develop a plan for long term peace.
Instead, Israel chose the path of vengeance and war. Maybe that makes Israelis feel better, but I think it created - and is still creating - much more hatred.
Hatred will lead to more terrorism both in Israel as well as in the US.
Nasrallah was the Shiite equivalent of Bin Laden, who was widely liquidated on the order of President Obama.
Israel has done the world a tremendous service in taking out Nasrallah; thanks goes to them.
Everyone everywhere should be celebrating this wonderful news and handing out sweets.

Respect to them, but I don’t want American boys on the line for this/ Israel is spoiling for a war with Iran.
There won't be a genuine war between Israel and Iran. They are not neighboring countries. And neither is marching armies across Syria, Jordan and Iraq. Israel has the obvious advantage in projecting air power. But they are much more interested in destroying Iran's proxy armies in the region - Hamas and Hezbollah. They have their plate full. Iran, particularly the new president, has no interest in a genuine regional war. The regime is too weak politically to engage in a real war. It will merely be noisy for a while longer, but there will not be genuine military conflict between Israel and Iran.
The only wild card is if Iran decides to cross the line and go full nuclear. That changes the dynamics in the region. Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf States may attack Iran very quickly if they choose to cross that threshold. But I don't think Iran wants that war.
In the meantime, Israel's success in destroying the leadership of Hezbollah is quite likely to lead to a quicker resolution of the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza. Iran is significantly weakened. Their influence over Lebanon has been seriously degraded. Hamas too is weak and hiding in tunnels and among women and children. Once Sinwar is dead, Palestinians can choose how they want to proceed. But Iran won't be much of a player in Gaza anymore, so Palestinians are on their own. They have no other regional support.

Nice blame shifting. If Hamas and Hezbollah don’t want to be attacked, they should stop attacking people. Simple.
So they should just bend over and take what Israel continues to do to THEM?
Hezbollah, huthis, Hamas are all terrorist organizations backed by Iran operating in countries that don't seem to want to remove them. They all should be eliminated, no cease fire just like isis
+100
No. Hamas and Hezbollah are only fighting against the Israeli who stole their land and kill their people. Israel is the true terrorist. Just look at what they do!
Hamas and Hezbollah are both officially designated as terrorist organizations by the U.S. government. Hamas has been on the U.S. State Department's Foreign Terrorist Organization list since 1997 due to its numerous attacks on civilians, including suicide bombings and rocket attacks aimed at achieving political objectives.
Similarly, Hezbollah has been listed as a terrorist group since 1997 for its role in violence against Israeli and U.S. targets and its strong ties to Iran
Despite these designations, Lebanon and Palestine have refused to categorize these groups as terrorist organizations. Hezbollah holds significant political power in Lebanon and is not classified as a terrorist organization there.
Israel, on the other hand, is not listed as a terrorist state by the U.S. or any other major international body. Israel is recognized as a sovereign state and a key ally to the U.S. and many Western countries. While there are accusations from critics regarding its military actions, especially in Gaza and the West Bank, these are not categorized as acts of terrorism by the U.S. government. Israel’s military operations are generally framed within the context of national defense against groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, which are known for targeting civilians.
While the debate over Israel's policies continues, international bodies like the U.S. State Department focus on the actions of groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, whose tactics include the targeting of civilians, to make their terrorist designations
AI trash
You could have just said “because the U.S. says so” and it would been just as credible as regurgitating that State (glorious impartial State!) designated anyone anything. The same State Department that employs individuals like Blinken and Seldowitz and doest’t consider conflicts of interest a disqualifier unless the candidate is Arabic or Muslim, or otherwise might not be 100% in the tank for Israel.

Presumably, you are talking about during WWII. The easy answer is that the state of Israel didn't exist then. The longer answer is that Jews had very little ability to protect themselves from the Nazi genocide. That's the origin of the phrase "never again." Jews made a decision that they would never again be helpless in the face of genocidal hostility. Hence the reaction to attacks against Israel over the decades, and Israel's determined efforts to maintain military superiority in the region.
I thought the phrase "never again" was supposed to refer to the world's acceptance of genocide/ethnic cleansing?
