It's all very frustrating to watch for soccer. If the teams are ranked, I really don't see why there is such a need for all of these separate leagues around the DMV. Are they trying to weed out smaller clubs? That's what it seems like.

But that is the issue isn't it? People "check out" when the team doesn't do well.
Whatever happened to working harder and resolving the issues? Not anymore I guess? Take the easy way out, quit and move on.
There are some circumstances where I guess it makes sense.
even though you caveat it at end, this isnt fair to be more biased against the parents/players. All of the coaches deserve the situation they find themselves in. Get rid of the politics, favoritism, position “holding” and other stuff they do. Why does my kid or I need to stay around to talk the crap thats being served?
I think it’s telling in many situations when you see the exodus where the issue stems from.
In the coaches’ defense, it’s not always in their control. Most can’t even pick their own teams. Even if they give their recommendations, the TDS will override and often slash a kid for a political fave, club donors, etc. Married to a travel coach.

Sounds like coach's job, doesn't it?
Yes to a point but it's a quality the parent should instill in the child. But if parents are enabling the "moving on" behavior, the coach can't do much.
It is also tough to resolve a problem if everyone has jumped ship.
It’s on the coach to sell his philosophy to his players.
Are we talking about pros or children?
So a coach's "philosophy" will trump parental guidance?
