Here are the details. Riverside scored 10 seconds into the game and it was never competitive. Oakmont scored to make it 6-1 and one of the kids yelled - we’re back! Well not so much. It was 11-1 at the half. Teams cannot deal with Riverside #8, #24, #23, #2. Too much scoring depth. The D does not give up goals when teams have run their offense against a set D. The goalie is good as well. Finally - for Oakton - I am not sure which game the freshman played in JV or Varsity - but if they played in the JV game - it was a tie. So when one considers Riverside has 16 Juniors on the Varsity roster - Riverside is set for years to come.

Riverside is the class of Virginia public school lacrosse.

Who won 5a last year?

the team that is afraid to schedule Riverside, Robinson, Madison, Langley, Yorktown, etc. this year so that nobody takes them seriously.

Reminder that you can find most (not all) scores at the 6a LaxNumbers schedule - https://www.laxnumbers.com/scoreboard/3546/2026-03-25

That's last night.

Battlefield can’t catch and throw and caused at least 5 turnover and YT profited off that. Great game from both teams but no doubt YT played their hearts out.

No doubt? YT is lucky the score wasn’t 8-1 end of first. So many bad takes. And then they gave up 2 in the final minutes and nearly gave up the third. Play that game 10 times and it’s a toss up.

So much for the -8 spread and talk of a running clock huh?

Anyone got the story here?

WP up 6-2 at the half and 7-4 in the fourth before a late push made it 7-6. Langley fought back. Good game.

Langley played sloppy the entire game and couldn't settle a possession to save their lives. The defense struggled in the first half but managed to turn it around in the second half. The game was realistically more like 7-4 but Langley scored 2 in the final 30 seconds to bring it to a 1 goal game. West Po took advantage of the possessions they had and made a few good saves on the back end to seal the game.

I don’t follow why Indy would be ranked alongside Madison or Robinson. Madison scheduled Langley, Yorktown, and Robinson to start the season and beat them all. Indy played a weak team yesterday and ran up 17 goals, which seems to be their normal way of doing things. But until they beat a good team, why would they be in the discussion with the proven teams?.

Looks like Madison, Robinson, Indy are top 3 in 6A for early season rankings in March.

Also random thought but this discussion page would be so much better with usernames.

Woodson 6, Herndon 5

Long time NOVA lacrosse fan and parent of two boys (9 & 12) in the Woodson pyramid. Decided to start taking them to some games this year and caught both the Centerville opener and tonight vs Herndon.

Monday’s result vs Centreville was a frustrating one for Woodson. They were clearly the better team but fell victim to a sloppy first game after having a bye week to start the season, and it showed. They dominated possession after possession offensively and generated quality looks all night, but couldn’t finish to save their life. It was one of the worst shooting performances I’ve seen. I had #24 for Woodson around 2 for 17 on the night shooting and the rest of the group wasn’t much better. Woodson dug themselves into a hole, rallied late to force overtime, and even in OT had multiple point blank chances turned away before Centerville won it in double OT on EMO. Credit to Centerville, they played hard and their attackman #3 looked like an all-state level player. I heard it was his first game back after missing all preseason and they looked like a completely different team with him. Overall you could sense the frustration from Woodson as it felt like nothing bounced their way and that if they played that game 10 times, they would win that game at least 9 of them. It was probably a needed early wake up call.

Tonight’s matchup vs Herndon was a much better indicator. Herndon looked like a top team, I can see why they’re ranked in the 7 to 10 range in the state. Their York commit, #1 at attack is a problem and their SSDMs / poles were all over the field. This is also a group that handled Lake Braddock in a scrimmage and hadn’t really been tested yet.

Game wise, Woodson again started slow shooting and went down 2-0 despite getting clean looks almost every possession. In the second quarter they settled in and took a 4-3 lead into half. Early third they pushed it to 6-4 and from there it felt like they were in control. Woodson slowed things down, moved it well, and the refs started putting really early stall calls on them which made the second half a bit of a game of keep away. Herndon made a push late, but had no answer for Woodson’s goalie and the Cavs closed it out 6-5. It felt like if the refs weren’t issuing super early stall calls that Woodson could have kept scoring every possession. It became a weird game script in the 2nd half.

Overall it felt like a quality top 10 matchup. After the first quarter Woodson played cleaner, looked more composed, and felt like the slightly better team the rest of the way. Based on what I’ve seen and some early results, it feels like Woodson and West Potomac are right there with Lake Braddock not far behind in what should be a tight race out of Region C for the last spot in states. Should be a fun one to follow!

That was a heavyweight matchup between Robinson and Madison. Madison flat out won. Once they got a lead it was over. Aaron doesn't lose leads when he gets one in a game like that. Both teams played well and there was some high level lacrosse on both sides, especially the defenses. Every possession was important and they both played that way. Good game. Kudos to Madison.

Absolute coin flip of a game. Robinson came out hot and were up 3-1 early in the 2nd. Madison then scored 3 goals in ~3 minutes and went into half 4-3. 2nd half was 1-1 overall for Warhawk 5-4 victory. #5 Lynchburg commit was phenomenal tonight, even against Penn State commit. Robinson controlled the faceoffs but 11 LSM for Madison caused a lot of 50/50s at the X. #8 York commit for Robo looked really good as well. #14 was the best player on the field for Robinson- 3 goals and the offense ran through him. Goalie change for Madison at halftime from the Senior to the Landon transfer. Night and day difference, 2nd half goalie was lights out.

It’ll be a lot of fun to see these teams play later into the year and they will likely see each other again in June. It’s a clear three headed monster in 6A between Indy, Madison, Robo. Indy seems to be the team to beat right now but there is opportunity for that gap to close as Madison/Robinson have the two best coaches in the state. Both teams missing key players as well. We’re in for a fun one this year.

Apparently Robo back up was in. Any truth to that?

That did not happen. Oakmont got boat raced by Riverside

Stratton Oakmont

Oakmont or Oakton - doesn’t matter. Riverside gave them the boot!

Oakton must had been missing players. Anyone know what happened?

Oakton isn’t ready yet.[/I will tell you what happened Oakton they got absolutely whooped.

Any reasonable local lax fan knew Oakton had no shot. The Side has several commits that create offense and a lot of complimentary piece’s throughout the lineup. They are as good as anyone this Spring.
