Maybe they are worried their current roster isn't competitive.

Yeah, I wouldn't read into it that way (they are desperate for players). When a club holds supplemental tryouts, it is a good way to gain talent outside of the club and get kids to transfer after the trouts have occurred. Our club held them and gained kids from some competing clubs also, even though our rosters were seemingly set...we just made room for 2 more players.

In other words the talent on the team is not good (but not your kid of course) and they want to upgrade.


More likely the clubs just want to make more money. They’d pack every team if given the chance.

How many kids on the roster?
I was more surprised to see that they are trying to build teams lower than the MLS2 level.
