Each time it was a risk. It’s not something any human should be forced to endure against their will, as a “consequence.” Because what “consequence” does the father ever encounter that risks his actual life? None, ever. She was actively miscarrying in her second trimester but, because there was still a heartbeat, her doctors took some sort of "wait it out" approach, despite the fact that there were compkications. She developed sepsis due to this decision, and she died. The situation garnered much publicity and contributed to Ireland overturning their abortion ban several years later.
