As an STA alum, I can inform you that they do in fact recruit players, but it is done in a way that is technically not "recruiting." Look into certain programs a.k.a. do your homework!

Not OP. I am a Beauvoir parent. I cannot speak to legacies or "connected families." But just going through the class lists, there do seem to be a high number of siblings who presumably will apply.

PP: what do you mean by "high" can you give an approximate number?

Hmmm...excellent musician? Might want to look into choir. They often have a couple of spots for fourth grade.

In local privates the term "recruitment" is very narrowly defined. When the first contact between the potential student and the school is iniated by an employee of the school, that constitutes recruitment. To the extent that individuals affilated with a school, but not employed by it (eg parents, alum) initate contact and faciliate the application and enrollement process, that is not recruitment. This is 180 degrees away from how the NCAA defines recruitment for athletes at D-I where contact by any booster--which includes official school reps, alums, ticket holders, donors and a laundry list of other individuals--constitutes recruitment and is limited to specific timetables and frequency of contacts.

It's pretty apparent that there is an influx of great basketball and baseball players in upper school. This may not be the result of "official recruitment," but something must go on to make this happen.
