Just pay more voluntarily. Nobody is stopping you, and you'll do what you think it right while others do what they think is right, e.g., paying less tax and deciding for themselves how to spend their money instead of the government deciding for them.
Is that the official Republican POV now given they are officially the party of deficits and debt?
Trump was responsible for 25% of the national debt alone at the end of his first Presidency. The Republicans, as consistently pointed out here, currently control the House, Senate, and Presidency. And they just voted to add trillions more. They are the party of debt and deficits.
So you don't deny that the Republicans concern over debt, the deficit, and fiscal conservatism is a complete lie? Thanks for validating.
Yes, we do. The CBO, several prominent right leaning economy thinktanks, and the house freedom caucus all said this is a deficit BOMB, in the trillions. Don't lie. There are also PLENTY of charts and graphs showing that the deficits balloon under Republican Presidents in the last 40 years, especially.
??? WTF are you talking about? How much did Trump add in his first term BTW?

That's funny. The biggest blue states in the country have record setting deficits as of 2025 and virtually isn't talked about meanwhile in Georgia we have a historic 16B budget surplus. Actions speak louder than words.
Georgia also has a higher poverty level than many of those blue states. Perhaps the state might lift kids out of poverty?

I’m at a multi-millionaire Democrat majority enclave all weekend. They are all ecstatic. The rich on
both sides of the aisle do not care about the poor and middle peasant class. That is to say they literally do not care if the poor all drop dead. Congress is a charade. Trump is just a boogeyman front for what all of the moneyed class wanted.
Not one dem voted for this bill. Stop pretending both sides are the same.
What does that have to do with the allegedly partisan donor class on both sides of the aisle being jubilant this passed? Because congress is a charade. Some of you are in your 50s and 60s and haven’t caught onto this scam yet? They work in concert, blame boogeymen, and it’s always a win-win for the donor class and special interests. Politics is theater.
Nope. There is theater. But, there is cruelty. They are not the same thing.
You partisan Dems really think there’s a gloomy vibe in Bethany, Dewey and Rehoboth, the Hamptons, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Watch Hill and Breakers Rhode Island this weekend because BBB passed? Please don’t tell me anyone here is that naive. The rich on all sides are all thrilled. American politics is fake and controlled by the rich; proletariat just have an illusion of control. Vote harder next time! Like it matters.
I'm rich. I'm not happy. I was out rich people last night. They said they weren't happy either. You can spin it all you want. If I lived in NYC I'd vote for Mamdani because I believe a rising tide lifts all boats. I don't have a scarcity mindset.
If you want receipts here you go: Generous people actually make more money. https://ethicalleadership.nd.edu/thought-leadership/it-pays-to-be-generous
The US should stop acting like a poor person.

The prior post is non-partisan, but you have to go there anyway.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The reality on total Fed debt is that each party will continue to add debt until the collective bond market says stop, by raising interest to an uncomfortable level. I think if mortgage rates got to 10%, that would do it. People would demand change.
And the Federal Reserve had a hand in this by buying Treasury bonds for years past financial crisis, artificially pushing down rates, and giving a false sense that the ever expanding yearly deficits are ok. How long this can go on for is anyone’s guess.
True. But with Republicans adding another $3.3 trillion in unsustainable debt in an environment where the US dollar has declined in value by nearly 15 percent while inflation remains high, it means the Fed cannot reduce interest rates at all and only increase them to counter the damage Republicans are inflicting on the economy. So anyone hoping to refinance or buy a home in the foreseeable future is out of luck. As interest rates remain high, asset prices will have to go down. Republican fiscal insanity may actually lead to a deflationary spiral as the fed is forced to keep interest rates high.
