No more TF contract. All of the coaches are GFR employees now. Exactly as it was planned by MN and RS when they made the agreement for GFR to absorb DMV’s coaches, players and technical staff. It was honestly a great move for everyone involved and the benefit to GFR will be felt for years to come
While NM and ML coaches at BSC too? The GFR 2014G were “training” with the BSC 2014G in the fall at their indoor facility so the BSC coach can get a look and identify players. But I’m sure it will benefit GFR for years! No conflict of interest there. 2015G picked clean this past year due to NM drama, 2014G picked clean the year before with new coach ML drama. 2016G and 2017G RS and NM hate on FA coaching drama. Yes great foundation for years to come for GFR. BSC, MCLN, ARL, and LOUD thank GFR very very much.
The 2014G team that were "picked clean" according to you are 2nd in their table in pre-ECNL. ML must really be one of the best coaches in nova.
Try tied for second with Valor. Not one big club team is even playing in this “power” league. ARL? LOUD? Not even MCLN. Looks like win padding vs low hanging fruit to anyone who knows the soccer landscape. Second bracket at WAGS and still can’t win. Yes that is best coach in nova material. Pathetic.
Actually ARL, VDA, and Richmond (and several other VA teams that top out at NL) are in the league. Think they probably count as “big club teams.” LOUD and MCLN aren’t bc they are off playing GA bunnies instead of real competition. Tied for second is still second.
And the team was in the top bracket in WAGS, made the final, and was in a 0-0 final against a highly ranked PGH team, lost in sudden death penalties on the 6th shooter, essentially a coin toss.
This all can be easily confirmed on GotSport. But I guess you never let facts get in the way of your agenda.
That you are so desperate to push your agenda that you need to make up facts about a team of 10 &11 y.o. kids I think shows everyone how reliable your judgement is.
They were not in the top bracket which was "CUP". They were in "A' beneath Cup (the WAGS tournament website will confirm that). Yes the ARL is in your league oh but wait..they are U11! I guess reading is not fundamental where you come from. Oh and you did lose to Valor and Richmond both 1st and 2nd, so again go beat on the low hanging fruit and call yourself the best coach ever. Doesnt change the fact many players left months after ML and the team since.
Someone seems to have a thing about the TF coaches but I’ve seen NM, ML, JG, JB, and TV first hand. No coach is perfect but collectively they were a great get for GFR. They care about individual development over winning and develop the girls to play a possession style game that will serve them well at older ages instead of trying to win with kickball. If the club has to make a choice between them and the RP holdovers I know who I’d pick.
So disingenuous. Nobody has mentioned “TF coaches” except for you. People have a problem with the director(s) collecting big salaries while spending substantial time away coaching for an unaffiliated club. When the TF contract was terminated, where were NM and ML? One was on the west coast the other was on the other side of the planet, both coaching another club’s teams. What club in their right mind would be okay with their TD and DOC, on the first weekend in April with spring soccer kicking into high gear, to be off coaching for another club??? The whole setup is a joke.
Good to hear from you again Mario.
You said this at the coaches meeting when you took over the club for those glorious few weeks.
Then shortly after (in the same meeting) you said RS and others were not let go for any wrongdoing. Even your new bff JN pressed you in the meeting that your email implied wrongdoing but you said no wrongdoing. Truth is not your thing and then you pathetically sued to no avail.
The same people that complain about those directors also want a pathway for their superstars because that is the landscape.
As a board member, did you ever ask the questions of why it might benefit GFR?
Oh wait why have conversations when you clearly know everything? When you go from last place in NCSL to last place in RL, you clearly know what is best to lead all families in GFR. I feel bad for every family that ends up following you to your new club.
Only bad decision they made was putting ML on the BoD without having more conversations with him. He could have actually done some good things at the club if he'd worked with everyone instead of just trying to bulldoze it.
Only bad decision at GFR was ML? It was all going so perfect until he showed up, right? Joining NVA was a master stroke? RS was crushing it as the ED and, after re-installing him, he’s ED-ed on so wonderfully that he’ll stay in the job for the next decade! Oh, wait…
NVA was Kurt B’s baby and probably one of the reasons he was let go so if you’re using that as an example, try again

GFR has fallen so far they now view a club that has never played a game as their main competition. Let that sink in.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If 2014G was "picked clean," (they did indeed drop to 5-6 rostered players mid season but not everyone left), and they are where they are now, they've done some solid rebuilding in a short time. Are they the best of the best of the best of the best (seems to be the bar around here)? No, but do they need to be to still be developing as players and a team for the long term? Are the players doing that on their own or can we acknowledge that probably takes some good coaching too?
Who here is actually rooting for their success? Hopefully at the least the ones that like to point out they are only 11 when downplaying their successes. And hopefully at least their former coach.
There is no doubt the former coach loves them and misses them all very very much. She still to this day talks so fondly of them. You are right, not everyone left and that says something about those players. I was one of this teams biggest fans back then. I would go out of my way to watch them. After the the switch, and what i saw at the Bethesda tournament last year was to be frank, very sad. The spark was gone, no swag, no confidence. Again there was so much potential there and to see it extinguished was heartbreaking. I hope they can get back to the promise and potential they once had. But there has to be some change in order for that to happen unfortunately.

Nobody thought that but GFR at least has a league affiliation which is more than ML's new club has.
GFR has fallen so far they now view a club that has never played a game as their main competition. Let that sink in.

Not this again, lol. Let it go. Yes, NM and ML were coaching FVU teams that weekend. Both have won more ECNL playoff games that the the rest of the GFR staff combined. If you want high-level ECNL coaches at GFR at the moment, you have to share them with an ECNL-NL program. Players and parents on the teams they coach (two of the best girls teams in the club) appear happy. Their teams play possession-based, smart, soccer. They are examples of things that are going right at GFR. If my DD had a chance to play with either of them I would do everything I could to make it happen.
