Who cares what it did or even why it did it. It’s gone.
Is USAID gone yet?
Just another thing to ref-und when the TACO truck finally leaves, add it to list of easily reversible items. It’s a shame that the administration loves killing children globally, but we can’t control that right now.
Trump can take ALL the credit for this. All of it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I want an accurate depiction when they write the history of this administration.
If children in other countries are dying, it is the fault of their own government, not the US.
We are not the patriarch to the world.
That’s your opinion. Your democratically elected Congress appropriated a budget to USAID and that budget was executed and its results reported regularly to Congress.
When the US heartlessly closed UsAID overnight, children who depended on the food aid, medicines and medical care funded by USAID died. The way it was closed was careless and unprofessional and will foment a negative opinion of the USA overseas for generations to come.
We are not responsible for basic healthcare and medicines in other countries. These children need to be able to depend on their government. As long as the US taxpayer fills that void, there is no incentive for an independent nation to do the work.

Now we'll see how Republicans vote, for or against USAID. If they vote against the package, will that reinstate USAID?

We don’t have either of those items in the US. But the idea is that it’s really hard to get into heaven and enjoy eternal love if you are rich!
That is why we shut it all down. Pro poor in that agency. America is not pro poor at all any more. Peace corps is the worst . I don’t know why they didn’t bring those kids home yet.
There is a lot of truth in this post. The declining influence of mainstream churches and the teachings of Jesus have contributed greatly to our current situation, not just shutting down USAID but also Trump in general. Nowadays it seems like most people are religious wackos (like Vance and his twisted form of Catholicism), atheists, or in some sort of wellness cult. There is a lot of blame to go around for this turn of events, including the Catholic Church not keeping its house clean (to say the least) but part of what we are seeing today is the result of people becoming unmoored from any sort of moral code. Organized religion doesn’t have to provide that moral code, but for a lot of people it did, and now there is a vacuum.
Jesus would be considered extremely woke by today’s standards. I don’t think most Christians would approve.
+1 He was the OG SJW. He taught about compassion and reaching marginalized groups, taking care of the poor, welcoming foreigners. However, He did not care about politics. But, He did go against the Judaic law and performed a miracle "work" on the Sabbath. So, He was also a law breaker when man's law went against God's work.
