Yes Israel. Without Israel the Middle East would be peaceful. Too bad terrorists like Israel continue to go unpunished. The only reason Israel did not invade Egypt was because Turkey said they would come in on the side of Egypt. Right now Israel is violation of the Egypt Israeli peace treaty with the occupation of the Philadelphia corridor.
Hopefully the Syrian with Russian will aid the Lebanese against the invading Israelis.
This is so sad. Why can’t Israel be happy with what they have? They have a beautiful country and still want more. They should accept a two state solution and Palestinian politicos that support that (Fatah/West Bank) instead of the ones that want a one state solution (Hamas).
Now, they covet Lebanon and the extremist settlers who reside in the West Bank say they need Lebanon. Wtf? Manifest destiny is not going to work for them. Israel is not the U.S., and Muslims are not Native Americans with natural tribal and linguistic divisions. Sunnis and Shias pray together in Lebanon. Christians and Muslims have lived for centuries and both speak Arabic. They both eat the same foods and listen to the same music and say the same name for God (Allah). Allah is Arabic for God and said by Arab Christians.
Israel takes advantage of the U.S. including our presidents complete lack of knowledge about the region. In 2003, the Us’s first strike was on an Iraqi church. Pres Bush famously didn’t know what the difference between Sunni and Shia.
It’s like someone dividing the US between Catholic whites and Protestant whites. It’s ridiculous. If Christians spoke a different language, I can understand how ethnic distinction and divisions could be made but in the end, Lebanon in particular will be a hard country to crack with civil war. Israel will try with all their might but if it failed with Palestinians and Syrians, it will fail
There as well. Israel may have their own civil war in the next 5 years. They should be more concerned about what. Netanyahu has torn the country apart
You need to accept Israelis never wanted peace, not since THEY assassinated Rabin. And that wasn't some anomaly - that's most of the country's mindset.
America allowed Israel to become this. People keep making excuses for Israelis by saying it's only Bibi. No, it's the overwhelming majority. Those protests you saw a while back were about THEM being free. They're fine with being violent occupiers and land thieves. Israel is destroying itself and as an American of Palestinian descent who know first hand how repugnant they behave, it's karma as far as I'm concerned.
This is such crap. Jews have only wanted peace - they’ve been under constant attack for centuries by Islamist invaders.
Israel - in its modern form - is no exception. Israel wanted a two-state solution. Hamas / PLO did not - they wanted literal eradication of all Jews, including those in Israel. And, of course, Israel gone even though it’s Jewish indigenous land (that Islamists stole).
Israel has the right to defend itself.
Why didn’t Israel defend itself against Germany?
Israel does not desire peace. It desires dominance. Israel does not want a two state solution. It wants regional collapse
Exactly

All the arrogance and menacing indifference to human life - where was it 80 years ago?
We in the U.S. have created an inhumane monster by propping Israel up with extraordinary levels of welfare that have been abused to pursue belligerent domination, not peaceful coexistence. And since we created this monster, it’s our duty to deal with it, unfortunately.
Yikes!

The current issue is not about Israel's right of existence, it's about the right of Palestinians and Lebanese people to live.
On 10/8 Israel could have chosen to fortify its defenses while examining the root of why Hamas held so much anger, working cooperatively with its neighbors to develop a plan for long term peace.
Instead, Israel chose the path of vengeance and war. Maybe that makes Israelis feel better, but I think it created - and is still creating - much more hatred.
Hatred will lead to more terrorism both in Israel as well as in the US.

Right now, the choice to minimize the loss of human life is in Israel's hands and they are still punching.
Yes, those that they are battering may not have liked them before but they certainly hate them now. That makes tragic events like 9/11 and 10/7 more likely to occur again.
Someone above wrote "Jews have only wanted peace". I believe that is true, but it is peace on their terms. It leaves out seeing the harm the formation of Israel and subsequent actions have caused the Palestinian (and Lebanese) people and helping identify a plan for healing. That harm impose by Israel was (and is) real and felt and until Israel acknowledges this, they are never going to get the peace they want because hurt people get angry. And angry people do terrible things.

+1 Jews and up in Europe because they were taken into slavery by Romans or were fleeing Islamic invaders. The Middle East is their native land. Islamists are the colonialists and invaders. Also Jews never left that area but those who returned after the Holocaust are nevertheless linked to that region.

Who's even to say it even was the Arabs' land? Prior to the creation of Israel it had been under British control, a result of capturing it from the Ottoman Turks in WWI. And prior to that, it had been under Ottoman Turk rule for hundreds of years. The Arabs living in Palestine hadn't had any meaningful rule or self-governance in Palestine for hundreds of years, other than at local government level. And most of the land was owned by landlords in Turkey, Syria, Egypt and so on. By the time of the formation of Israel, Jews had already been buying a non-trivial amount of land in Palestine from those landowners going back several decades prior.
