No rampant illegal immigration, gangs, and 50% literacy rates there either. USA has all three.

It's also far more difficult to get a gun in Switzerland. But keep coming up with excuses.

+1. Once the assault weapon ban was lifted, mass shootings skyrocketed. But keep on saying that you need an assault rifle to hunt deer.

Ha! On the contrary, I see mothers every day allowing their one and two years old boys to run all over them! Mom says no. Her little love ignores her. All is well as long as her boy is happy. It’s utterly disgusting and I cringe every time.

Show your boys that no actually means no!!!!!

This goes for many parents some single moms and also many younger people having kids that were raised by social media and never learned discipline, respect or responsibility for themselves. There’s becoming a general lack of social interaction and discipline, lack of respect for those with opposing views, and blatant disrespect for adults and authority. This rolls over to schools where kids don’t listen to teachers and parents are more likely to email their kids teacher when their kid gets in trouble rather than discipline and follow through in the home. Kids aren’t being taught basic life skills because parents don’t know how to reduce screen time without their kids throwing a fit. Parents need to parent and stop using computers and social media to raise their children. Kids are missing out on years of their young lives by being on computers constantly and at 18 act more like 10 year olds because they don’t learn those important life skills when they’re young. It’s only going to get worse for the next generation if this generation of parents doesn’t change their ways.

No one disagrees that we can’t do better. Enough with thoughts and prayers. ACT! Do something. Anything other than lip service.

Find a way to agree on something here. What can you give up to protect our kids? People grocery shopping?

For schools, I recommend posting two heavily armed special operators at each school. That will do it. Someone else can solve the grocery store one.

Every school has to bear the burden of heavily armed presence all day every day so the gun industry can have their way and sell lots and lots lots lots of high powered weaponry to pollute our society? No thanks. The schools and the children and education come way before the gun industry.

Things like absentee fathers, what mothers are like, family values, etc. don’t matter because you can’t create public policy of “fathers be involved” “fix mental health” “family values”. Are those things a problem? Sure. But there’s really nothing that can be done quickly about it, while creating public policy around gun reform will very quickly and dramatically reduce violence.

But that being said, the things that have been mentioned - more involved fathers, mental health help, parents who spend more time with their kids - can be encouraged with policies like extended and paid parental leave (research shows longer parental leave results in more involved fathers), access to free mental health resources, shorter workdays/fewer hours worked, living wage, more financial services for families, etc. That’s how you actually promote family values. But, conservatives don’t support those things. That’s the frustrating part - I hear conservatives rant about family values, but their actions show what they really care about are corporate rights to make maximum profits at the expense of families. They claim it’s a mental health problem, but not one supports the government providing free mental health services because they don’t want their “hard earned tax dollars” to go towards it or they fear government funded counselors will tell all the kids to be trans or whatever.

It’s a barbell. It’s involved single moms with stable jobs and it’s the opposite. Kid floats around from moms house to grandmas house to aunts house to friends house. But no dad in sight.

I just read about a mom jumping a fence and rescuing her own damn kids. If this is true, she’s my new hero!

I didn’t read that as attacking single moms. I read it as attacking deadbeat dads.

How quickly did they get there? Is there any information on this anywhere? Or is it a lost cause when you have a gunman with an AR-15?

Cops getting told to “stand down” has become a thing in the past couple of years.

Oh only when the white nationalist storm the Capitol.
