Since you brought up lacrosse I notice Landon has a more successful team than STA in 2010. Why has STA lacrosse changed so radically?
I would imagine it's a case of Landon going all out to make sure the lacrosse program as strong, or people flock to Landon because they know the program is going to be good (hasn't the coach been there for his whole life?). At St Albans they probably let the lacrosse program ebb and flow depending on the players and coaches that happen to be with the team at a given moment. I think at St Albans the baseball program is always tough to beat in the way that the Landon lacrosse program is always powerful.
If you look at the website, on average 5 or so STA boys go on to pay college-level lacrosse. I thought that was impressive. What are Prep and Landon's numbers like?
STA's lax program is top notch. There has been no "radical change" in the prgram. Coach Lester has been there for as long as Prep and Landon's coaches with the exception of a brief hiatus. He is competing in a league with 2 hall of fame coaches and 3 other programs that are neck and neck. League parity is the rule now. STA won the title a few years ago and has played even with Prep and Landon for the past several years. A year or two ago, STA beat what is arguably the best program in the country from upstate NY. We have a similar share going to play in college as Prep and Landon with the similar level of individual success at both D1 and D3 levels. If you area good student and good lax player at STA, Prep, Bullis, St Stephens/St Agnes or Landon, you will be noticed by college coaches.
