Meanwhile, the White House says US officials are headed to Pakistan for peace talks, though Iran has not publicly confirmed it will send a delegation. • Ship seizure: The US Navy fired on and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship that tried to bypass the US naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman, according to President Donald Trump. This marks the latest escalation in tensions over the region’s waterways, as Tehran maintains its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.

No word on the crew. Wonder if Hegseth ordered the crew killed or just threw them over the rail?

How can Trump get out of this and save face? Ideas?
He can’t even get them to entertain peace talks or negotiations now.
He can't. Why would Iran bother negotiating with him anyway when he's not in control and the American negotiating team is consulting with Netanyahu the entire time?
Nor does he have any credibility. He'll break any deal 60 seconds after it's signed.
Apparently tot they won’t even let Trump in the situation room.
From Meidas:
“Trump is reportedly being sidelined by his own military leaders as tensions with Iran escalate.
According to reporting, generals limited his access during a sensitive extraction mission over concerns about erratic decision-making that could put troops at risk. Meanwhile, Trump is again threatening strikes on Iranian infrastructure as Iran has fully closed the Strait of Hormuz and called out his lies.
Planned talks in Pakistan are now in doubt, with Iran signaling it won’t show up.”
Ok. I despise Trump. But if this is true (doubtful), it’s a huge problem. Civilian control of the military is absolute. The President, who like it or not is the elected representative of the people, does get to make these decisions. It’s not up to the military to disagree. It’s up to Congress, the courts, and the American people through our votes/protests/letter writing to act as the check on Trump.

The U.S. military is using sea drones to help clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines that might be lurking there, in a quiet effort to ease Iran’s stranglehold on the waterway and begin reopening it to commercial shipping.
Iran on Saturday closed the strait again and fired on at least two vessels to protest the American blockade of its ports. Earlier, it said any shippers allowed to cross must use new traffic lanes that swing by Iran’s coast, warning of mines in the main channels of the strait.
The military could do an initial scan for mines relatively quickly in the confines of the strait, military analysts said. After locating the mines, a second wave of sea robots could be sent out to destroy them by using explosives or by setting them off remotely.
“You can get a small channel in that area surveyed in days not weeks using Unmanned Underwater Vehicles,” said Kevin Donegan, a former U.S. Navy vice admiral and former commander of the U.S. Fifth Fleet based in the Gulf.
