Oh look, we’re bombing the Houthis daily. This is beyond dangerous with Hegseth, and a Defense Department in full disarray.

p.s. we kept telling you that the felon wasn’t a peacenik. He can’t stop the wars and is creating more violence.

This is probably happening already. Pegasus can hack Signal, which is why no one should be using it for sensitive information.

Me again…

“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s personal phone number, the one used in a recent Signal chat, was easily accessible on the internet and public apps as recently as March, potentially exposing national security secrets to foreign adversaries.

The phone number could be found in a variety of places, including WhatsApp, Facebook and a fantasy sports site. It was the same number through which the defense secretary, using the Signal commercial messaging app, disclosed flight data for American strikes on the Houthi militia in Yemen.

Cybersecurity analysts said an American defense secretary’s communications device would usually be among the most protected national security assets.

“There’s zero percent chance that someone hasn’t tried to install Pegasus or some other spyware on his phone,” Mike Casey, the former director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, said in an interview. “He is one of the top five, probably, most targeted people in the world for espionage.”

Yeah that’s breaking a whole lot of laws there. But Trump has decreed that Hegseth keeps his job while Hegseth is firing the guy who leaked that Elon Musk was getting a secret briefing on plans for a war in China.

If you want to start a separate thread about why we’re attacking the Houthis go ahead. But it’s not relevant here because any Trump SecDef is going to want to do that. We can’t really do anything at the moment about the policy behind these attacks (which are also trying to maintain safe passage in the Suez Canal which is vital.) What we could possibly do is get these hideous mistakes to light and try to get someone competent in charge who isn’t breaching national security just for bragging rights and funsies.

Confirmed that in the second Signal chat at issue, the one on his personal phone with his wife, that Hegseth copied info sent properly on a secure system into the chat.

Hegseth claims that no one knows who the Houthis are. He’s probably right about the typical red hats but there are enough of Americans who follow what’s going on in Yemen. I can only assume he says that meaning nobody cares what we do over there.

Maybe he was drunk when he did it? We could install a device he has to blow in before his phone will work?

He just comes across as such a weak and incompetent leader. No wonder he failed in his previous leadership stints.
