I bet right now teams in smaller markets like Portland or Nashville or Oklahoma or all the Canada cities are exploring options to move here.
There is no way a pro-league abandons the district.

I’m not a fan of the move to Alexandria, but the teams are not “abandoning” DC.

The practical effect of a move to Alexandria is the abandonment of fans in DC and MD. Very simple.

They are the same TV market - not even close to reality of happening.

Because Ted extorted the District to build an 80 million dollar arena in Southeast DC to host his WNBA and G-League teams, so when they move downtown, there is a white elephant arena and all of the promises that went with it, just sitting there.

I cannot emphasize how wrong this post is. What this person is positive about will never happen.

I’m sure the suites will be top of the line. Ted’s focused on enhancing the “game experience.” As a longtime Bullets/Wizards fan, my experience has mostly been bad trades, bad draft picks and bad basketball. I’d be happy with a competitive team. Whether the arena is in its current Chinatown location, or Alexandria, that’s all that matters to me.

The thing that makes a great "game experience" is winning teams. The videos, lights, music etc are all meh and pretty much the same at every arena across the country. You want to pack the stands and give people something to cheer about. Everything else is secondary.

How many sports franchises and stadiums do you run?

This definitely opens up Baltimore’s middle branch area right off 95 for an NHL arena. I think they would rather have NHL than nba

An NHL team near Camden Yards would be an easier drive for MoCo and PGC residents than the drive to Potomac Yards.

Why do people make insane posts like this?

Yup. It’s not just Alexandria who is going to pay. It’s all Virginians - even those down in the deep red corners.
