Over all, Mr. Trump leads Joe Biden by six points, 49 percent to 43 percent, echoing favorable results for Mr. Biden in Times/Siena surveys of relatively white states across Northern battlegrounds. But in the hotly contested race for U.S. Senate, the Republican senator Steve Daines narrowly leads Gov. Steve Bullock, 49 percent to 46 percent.
The survey was conducted from Oct. 18 to 20, before the final presidential debate on Thursday.

There is always some scatter, especially in state polls. That's another reason polls can be far off but not "wrong." They just aren't that great to begin with.
