At the end of Day 1 at NHSLS, a few teams performed as expected (Landon, Zaga, SSSA - undefeated), a few did better than expected (DJO, St Albans, and Dematha), and a few worse than expected (Bullis, Prep, SJC, Paul vi). NY teams showing well.

If you look at the teams who performed well last year in the tournament, they all had good strong varsisty campaigns in 2017.

It's varsity teams only that compete in it!

Is the NHSL only made up of the varsity team of each school?

While NHSL is a great tournament, it isn't typically predictive of teams' performance next season as kids are always missing etc. In this year's case I know that a number of colleges are requiring (or at least strongly recommending) their 2018's to attend their committed tournament in PA. So I know of at least a few teams that are missing significant starters. That said, it is a really great tournament!

Hoyas showed their potential against IMG Academy in late May.

Let's see how they perform after this weekend. The results of the NSHL are quite revealing of a teams potential for the upcoming season.

Fake news about Prep in 2018. Will be marginally better which means Prep will be more competitive with Bullis but will still probably lose, should avenge their loss to SSAS last year and will still lose to Landon by at least 5. Maybe 2019 will bring an IAC championship to Prep but no way in 2018.

I'm excited to see how the IAC teams fare this weekend!

Will be interesting to see if Prep lives up to the hype it that 2018 will be their year.

Here's a suggestion - allow MoCo and Loudon public schools to field "all-star" teams. The private schools competing at NHSLS are basically "all-star" teams.

If the best athletes at the Public schools played lacrosse, as they do in private schools, the teams would be more similar.

Instead, public school teams are filled with the kids who are looking for a Varsity letter.

There are a ton of good, out-of-state teams participating. But, if you want a few that should be interesting to watch - Lambert, Highland Park, Lincoln-Sudbury, Chaminade, Culver, Victor, New Canaan, and LaSalle. Most, if not all, of the teams at the tournament are very good and the competition has been excellent over the years. You can also check out the final Top 25 national poll on inside lacrosse - http://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/under-armour-il-final-top-25-high-school-power-rankings-co-no-1-teams/49955 - and choose some teams or match ups from that list (e.g. Bullis vs Calvert Hall or Victor vs Boys Latin or Lincoln-Sudbury vs Culver).
