Correct. The gun fires. You can clearly see the slide move and gray coat get startled.
This brings up a qhole other point most non gun owners don't even know about. Pretti had a round chambered (ready to fire, bypassing the need to rack a round it) In the gun world this is called carrying 'hot' and is extremely dangerous. Because Sigs often misfire. Like it did exactly here.

Stephen Miller is brilliant for having Noem being the face of his immigration operations I’ll give him that. If anybody ends up being held liable for this crazy stuff, his hands are completely off of it.

After Charlie Kirk was murdered, lots of Dems immediately condemned it, said it was wrong, etc. Admittedly, not all, and some AH's even celebrated, but most run-of-the-mill Dems were appalled. Everyone I knew was.
I have yet to hear a single MAGA supporter say that this, or the shooting if Renee Good, was wrong. Not one..not publicly, and none of the MAGA people I know.
To me, it shows this - Dems are still capable of exercising independent thought and critical reasoning. Yes, they abhorred what Charlie Kirk stood for, but they also thought it was wrong to murder him. Both things could exist at the same time.
MAGA genuinely does not seem capable of that level of independent thought. It should not be hard for someone to watch these videos and say, "yes, this was messed up." It doesn't have to mean you don't support Trump. Just acknowledging that what happened in this instance was not ok. But they can't, no matter how plain the evidence. It's like their brains are literally not able to disagree with their leader. It's both sad and scary. And I genuinely don't know how we as a country recover and get back to normal function ever again.
Well, I voted for Trump twice. I didn't really vote for him as much as I voted against Clinton and Harris.
The Good shooting was a bad shooting. Didn't have to happen. He could have moved.
The Pretti shooting is bad because it was a mistake. I don't belive they wanted to shoot him. They were trying to subdue him, "Gun" was yelled and was present, Gray coat runs away with it and accidentally discharges it. That shot prompts the agents to open up.
All of it was wrong, but heres the thing. Good and Pretti were both absolute idiots inviting disaster. None of this would have happened if they didnt insert themselves.
This will continuwe to happen. There will be more. The choice is up to the protestors. ICE isnt going anywhere.
If we can't exercise our Constitutional rights without fear of the the government killing us for doing so, we don't actually have those rights.
Amen. People like PP think cold blooded murder of peaceful protesters is okay. It goes against everything this country used to stand for.
They will rationalize this awful behavior to not have to admit who and what they are continuing to support.
Uhhh, I 100% support the collection and deportation of people that aren't supposed to be here. Make no mistake there. To be clear- you think Laken Riley's killer should have been here?
This ICE invasion is barely even about Immigration anymore. It’s about constitutional rights and those rights being pushed to the absolute limits.
+1 and Trump fan Erick Erickson agrees.
“A lot of what is happening now is Kristi Noem marginalized Tom Homan and the head of Border Patrol because those two prioritized deportations of criminals and gang members. Noem and Corey Lewandowski wanted broad, public round-ups without prioritizing the illegal aliens. They have bypassed Homan and the head of Border Patrol and elevated Greg Bovino because they want the public confrontations and displays. And that's not the progressive press reporting this. She did at first, don’t know about now. Remember she also thought her CECOT advertisement was great coverage as well.

Obamas call latest fatal Minnesota shooting a ‘wake-up call to every American, regardless of party’
Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama on Sunday condemned the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota after the fatal shooting of protester Alex Pretti.
Authorities said Pretti was killed for approaching law enforcement with a handgun, but released video footage shows only a phone in the 37-year-old’s hand.
I so miss the Obama days. This is like the reign of modern day anarchists and stupid people with Trump at the helm.
No need to bring anarchists into this.
Even anarchists do not shoot people in the back.
Luigi?

For Alex Pretti — From a Physician, For a Nurse
Every physician knows this: we do not save lives alone. We do it arm in arm with nurses. With ICU nurses. With the ones who catch what we miss, who speak up, who stay late, who hold families together when the medicine runs out.
Alex Pretti was that nurse. He chose to serve his country throughout his life, working in the ICU at the VA, serving veterans, serving those who had already given everything. He stood at bedsides where courage is quiet and exhaustion is constant, where nurses don’t get headlines — they get blood on their shoes and families in their arms.
Ask any doctor who worked with him and they will tell you: he protected. He taught. He defended women colleagues. He bought coffee for broken interns. He made the ICU more human. That is what great nurses do. They don’t just carry out orders. They carry the unit.
And then, one last time, he served as a nurse outside the hospital. With a camera in his hand. With his conscience in front of him. He stepped toward someone being harmed — not as a threat, not as a protester looking for chaos, but as a healer responding to suffering: the same reflex that defines this profession. His gun was legally holstered. His hands were occupied filming. His instinct was the same one every ICU nurse knows: see harm, step in, protect.
As physicians, we talk about teams, about trust, about partnership. Alex was the kind of nurse every doctor hopes to have when things go bad: the one who has your back, the one who has the patient’s back, the one who never looks away.
We didn’t just lose a man. We lost a nurse. A protector. A healer. And the hardest truth of all: he spent his life running toward danger for others — and in the end, that is what killed him.
Rest in power, Alex Pretti. Medicine and humanity will feel your absence.
