So I went down a rabbit hole of other houses on Zillow in this price range. First - WOW - unbelievable how many places over $50m exist there AND are on sale. But also - they had so many options of amazing homes - I cannot figure out what possessed JL and BA to buy the one they did.

Insane. The while house search was longer then them living in it together. If zillow is updating then it's definitely being prepared to be put on the market. It might be one of those closed offers where it won't update until it's sold again

They just don't have to, that's why. It doesn't matter how large it is. He can afford to go rent a place near his kids and get more physical distance and not have to worry about running into each other in the kitchen or looking at furniture or art that reminds him of time together. Or maybe it was a flex on her end and she told him he had to change behavior or move out and he moved out. Celebrities are no different than other people (who also often make colossal relationship errors, especially on remarriages) except that they have a lot more resources and a lot more scrutiny. Otherwise this is not that different from several divorces I've heard of among non-celebs.

I know of a couple who got married quickly at the courthouse for visa reasons while planning an elaborate 70k wedding and then got divorced 6 months later after spending tens of thousands on nonrefundable items like the ring, dress, and certain deposits.

I know another couple who divorced after 30 years together but have continued to live on the same property for the last decade because it's too large and expensive to sell and one of them has even remarried. Though they live in a multi-building compound and their kids are grown and the divorce was very amicable and mutual.

People can be very messy.

Ben always checks out and gets depressed on year 2 of a relationship and goes back to drinking. He did so with Paltrow, Garner, Ana de Armas.

He needs to devote himself to a sober lifestyle, which is more challenging for a Hollywood actor, but I don't see how he has a choice. And therapy to address whatever baggage he's got wouldn't hurt.

He probably doesn't want to move from the kids for long stretches, but he's rich enough to get out of town regularly and I think Jennifer G. would understand and work with him.

Let's throw some shade her way, what is this her fourth or fifth marriage? When you have that many divorces in your life you become the common denominator in the failure of those relationships. Seriously, she looks like a fool. Time for her to grow up and focus on her two children. Take a few years an just be their mom, that's healing time for Jennifer and quality family time for the children. After that maybe she can steer herself in a different directions. I feel like she is just too rigid in the way she approaches life and her choices, that is a tough thing to live with as a spouse/partner.

I side with you that a person needs to take responsibility for themselves. That's why I'm saying Ben should get clear with what he needs to maintain his sobriety and stress levels. Jen should focus on dealing with her relationship patterns too. That being said, Ben knew everything about her before he proposed. Did he think she would be different as Jennifer Affleck. He's too smart to believe he would change her, right?

The listing doesn't show much of the interior. I'm surprised that after all the house hunting they did that this is the one they went with. It doesn't look like a home at all. More like furnished corporate housing.
