Her coaches always let the players choose instead of assigning. Maybe I should talk to the coach? I just don’t want the coach feel I am helicoptering.

Absolutely not. The coaches will assign and you'll be viewed as "that parent" if you intervene.

DD likes to play forward just as most players do. But imo forward is too competitive to stand out for her as she is not those of great power hitters. I suggested her to try midfielder or defender, as those positions are easiest to get into higher level teams. She told me she just likes forward more. She is playing 10u. Comparing with other sports she plays, I found field hockey seems the most effecient one for her in terms of practice reward - as she only needs a bit time to get enormous improvement for any drill. She played travel for only one season so far but has showed some talent about it. Should I let her play forward? Or just try out other positions?

I'll bite. What club shut down? This can't still be about Husel from last year?

I think you are missing the point/issue. Not every player has had an easy go after their club folded.
You actually sound like an ass.

Props to all the parents who braved the cold to support their kids at Shooting Stars. Site did a good job. Parking was tough but the rest was really smooth.

NL is not on the same level as Warhawks. It's too soon to say that long term they will be a top team in the area. They are very competitive in one age group, but the top clubs are consistently strong in all age groups.

+1 Warhawks are amazing!
Fairfax, Robinson, and Woodson have all had strong teams in the last few seasons. All three do not seem as strong as in previous years.
Except Fairfax just won the district and region title for the 4th year in a row. States is tough, all the teams are good and it comes down to who gets lucky on that night, especially with the final four. Of the pool, Independence, Langley, Madison, Fairfax, Stafford all have equal chances depending on the night and the quality (or favortism) of the refs. The refs hold the power to change a game especially class 6 where they seem to decide they don't like certain teams because of consistent winning records.

While I do think Independence is going to be the team to beat in the State final, Oakton losing last night just shows that anything can happen! I do hope the Langley player is okay. Not sure if she fainted from excitement?

Yes, Oakton and Independence are very strong and clearly stronger than the rest of NOVA.

Oakton out.

For a current 6th grader who has enjoyed her experiences (3 seasons) at Washington Wolves rec, what program would you suggest that might allow her to play in HS. Her older sister (not a FH player) currently attends SJC and we live a block away from the school so that's our target freshman team.

If the goal is to play in HS, there is no reason to move her from a program she is currently enjoying. Wolves has players on St. John's team and has for many years. And if she decides she wants to play in college, she can do that with Wolves, too. Unless there is a reason to leave, don't.

Warhawks and Next Level might be a more competitive long term option.
