Because the Dems won’t bring up debate on border wall unless forced to. Dems never compromise.

BS. They compromise all the time. So do Republicans. It's gotten harder for both sides, but it does happen from time to time. It happened last month until Trump blew it up.

Gridlock in Washington is what Trump was elected to fix. All he's done is make it worse.

Compromise in big stuff? I only see Republicans caving.

Like what? They got tax cuts and judges. That's all they ever wanted anyway. And they got it without compromising an inch.

Who would trust Nancy to bring up border wall funding again? Trump sure doesn’t. I wouldn’t.

Who would trust Trump for anything? He's already gone back on his word many times.

Not sure what promises/word Trump has gone back on. I think you are so caught up in your hatred for the man. He’s keeping his word to his base, as you would expect him to do. He’s not going to do what George HW Bush did when going against his “no new taxes pledge” and get his base upset when he breaks his promise.

He said he wouldn't shut down the government until Coulter tweeted him. Some on DCUM said he didn't say that, but everyone knew it, which is why the Senate pased a budget last month and the House was about to.

In February he reneged on $25 billion for the wall in exchange for DACA. If he was interested in keeping his promise on the wall, that was his best chance. He blew it.

He promised an infrastructure bill. Five hundred infrastructure weeks later, no bill. Why doesn't he keep that promise?

So Mexico's paying for the wall? Cool, let's reopen the government.

Please explain to us how the President shows he cares about furloughed federal workers. Pelosi and the House have passed several funding bills. Why won't Trump sign them?

Just yesterday, he offered to provide added certainty to desperate Dreamers (who could lose their protections any day when the Supreme Court rules on their very precarious situation), along with holders of TPS, while at the same time securing our border and allowing furloughed federal workers to return to work. Yet Speaker Pelosi rejected that offer even before it was made. So she has let down the Dreamers, the holders of TPS, federal workers, and Americans in general, and for what? Just to stick it to the President. How petty!

So Trump gave back less than he took away for DACA and TPS - and since DACA/TPS folks are winning in the courts, it's really pointless. Securing the border? If that was really his priority, Trump would be spending the money that's already been allocated.

The Dems aren't going to give in to Trump's extortion because then he'll just keep shutting down the government to get his way. It's not to "stick it to the President" - it's to preserve our system of government.

You want to live in a dictatorship? There are several other countries you might be interested in.

Again with the "extortion"! FFS, he's asking for money to discourage illegal aliens. To hear you talk, he's "extorting" money for his personal gain!

We need to stop these endless caravans of functionally illiterate people unable to support their families, who cram in 15 to a house or 8 to an apartment. Let's go with what the Border Patrol Commisioner said, and build a wall where the illegals tend to break in.

He has made "the wall" into a partisan issue. It didn't have to be. He actually had a deal in February, but he reneged under pressure from the right. Now it's a wall, only a wall, and nothing but a wall, but he'll "compromise" and call it a steel slat barrier.

This is like negotiating with a kid who won't leave the grocery store without a candy bar. It doesn't work.
