Nah, you are taking it too far. Barca may have some teams that are uneven in talent that you could compare to the summer camp crowd, but they also have some quality teams, which are ranked in the top 20 in the state.
Because gotsoccer rankings matter...
This comment is worse than stupid: it's bad-faith. Take that BS elsewhere. Everyone knows that any ranking isn't the be-all, end-all of anything. But you don't get points in any system without winning. If you want to keep playing your juvenile game, let's try this:
"Because winning matters..."
DA teams aren’t even counted in the rankings. EDP sponsored events give exorbitant points. Not juvenile, just the truth. Barca is a money grab and marketing/branding device. Winning does matter. Rankings based on tournament points that don’t include the best boys players and teams do not matter though.
By your standards, there is no soccer beyond DA teams. Any pay-to-play program is a money grab. EDP gives a lot of points, because there are strong teams playing in the league, including DA teams (although they have their own division since DA doesn't like playing against outside competition).

Many will pay that much for a few weeks or a month of summer camp, or any number of other activities, iPhones, etc. The prices are market driven and in this market it’s reasonable
This is true if you are trying to assemble the best "payers" from the greater DC area, but it is not true if you are trying to assemble the best players. $3000 is a lot of money especially if the family has multiple kids that want to play soccer.
Let’s be honest: Assembling the best payers is absolutely the goal of every club. Even the so called not for profit clubs are still trying to make enough to sustain themselves, and competition with other clubs in the area necessitates paying for fields, coaches, and so forth. Until we have top caliber fields and coaches available for free, it’s always going to be market driven.
Paying for multiple kids is well within the means of plenty in this area. Families send multiple kids to expensive camps and buy iPhones for all their kids.
Yes this is a shame for developing the best soccer players in the area. Many clubs in the area do have scholarship programs for some players who can’t afford it, including Barca, but the player needs to be very good.
Welcome to a high cost of living area.

Thanks for sharing, but nobody told you you had to go to Barca.
I'm sure your kids Dad Coach on your D3 NCSL team is tearing it up though for your 2k before you've kicked in for team fees etc. though.
Nobody is paying $2K + team fees for a parent coached team.
This is pretty typical of average travel team cost:
Training Fees

$2125 is the cheapest.
Team Fees:
$250-$550
Loudoun Soccer doesn't have parent coached teams.
But they do have teams in NCSL and ODSL
Sure - but the PP made the statement that some are paying $2K + team fees for a parent-coached team. The only parent-coached team in Loudoun, I believe, is their 09G Green Team - whose fees aren't listed in what you posted. The coach for that team is AJ Wood. At best, there are only a handful of coaches in the area with his background.
The initial dig was that Barca charging 3k for ODSL was to much. In fact that 3k is to much. Well at least Barca gives you the out the door price. What is clear with Loudoun is that for all levels after is said and done you will pay just shy of 3k. And I didn’t even include the list for supplemental fees for futsal and summer training/camps as well as other fees and kits.
Loudoun’s fees are typical across clubs in the area and whether you want to admit it or not very few people are getting a year of travel soccer for much less than 3k. And those on lower teams also tend to spend even more on supplemental training in order to move up to the A team.
