The US does not unilaterally control SWIFT, dumb dumb. It's a consortium.

Italy and Cyprus said they wouldn't support kicking Russia out of SWIFT.

Sanctions sound like a slap on the wrist. Claims they are holding back another sanctions in case of further escalation.

Not. These sanctions are worse - no access to banks and western currency. No lines of credit. No one but China will be buying their oil. Russian bonds are worthless.

Yes. He’s our President and we need to rally around him now. I stand by him, right or wrong.

Crazy to see how ordinary Russians see through the Russian propaganda while the Trumpists cannot.

What would have him do differently short of a nuclear winter? Sanctions take time. Occupying a country is extremely debilitating, especially if Ukrainians turn into an insurgency.

No. Just no. Look at history, and apply it to what would happen if we took in a bunch of Ukrainians.

In 1959 the people of Cuba overthrew the fascist Batista regime. Tens of thousands of Cuban elites and capitalist kleptocrats fled Cuba, most going to south Florida. Their descendants are STILL voting republican today. They are responsible for Florida still being a red state. They grew up their whole lives being brainwashed about how JFK and Democrats let Castro take over the country and caused their parents of grandparents to flee for their lives. And they’re still holding a grudge and keeping republicans in power over that.

Now extrapolate that to potentially millions of Ukrainian refugees coming here. They would settle here, have children, and brainwash them about how President Biden and Democrats let Russians take their country from them. Those kids would end up just like the successive generations of Cubans who are hard-core GOP’rs. And there would be far more of them, and they would be highly politically motivated to continue to punish Dems in America. This will affect the Democrats for generations if we take in a bunch of Ukrainians who wouldn’t fight for their own country when Russia attacked them.

We cannot admit Ukrainian refugees. It would be an unmitigated political disaster within 20 years.

Oh are we running political tests on refugees now? Despicable.

- Democrat

What? Are you living in a fantasy? Of course we are. Do you think it's for nothing that refugee candidates are being asked about their past membership in political parties and current social media handles? Yes we are running political tests, Polly.

I've heard a few things happened in the world today. Perhaps he's addressing those? I know that's hard to understand for someone sitting around on your couch watching Fox and shitposting.

Two U.S. intelligence officials, one Western intelligence official and another person briefed on the matter say no final decisions have been made, but they say U.S. intelligence and military cyber warriors are proposing the use of American cyberweapons on a scale never before contemplated. Among the options: disrupting internet connectivity across Russia, shutting off electric power, and tampering with railroad switches to hamper Russia’s ability to resupply its forces, three of the sources said.

“You could do everything from slow the trains down to have them fall off the tracks,” one person briefed on the matter said.

What is your source?

I think most Americans would not support that.
