Posters now confirming the fear aspect. Admitting that large ESL populations are the root cause of not wanting to attend certain schools. Makes schools less desirable and the education is not up to par. Well, that traces through all levels of government. It just so happens that the touch points for residents are the schools and their children.

All of this was gerrymandered by Supervisor Chair McKay at the 11th hour at the last redistricting, in spite of many objections from West Springfield families and Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity. Nearly all of the redistricting in Fairfax County targeted dividing West Springfield into peacemeal voting districts, even the neighborhoods walkable to Pat Herrity's office on Rolling Rd and in spite of 22152 having the least population shift (least growth and least loss) in the entire county.
Voting for the Springfield rep instead of the Braddock rep just is not a valid argument against eliminating the Sangster split feeder and sending the entire school to Lake Braddock.
Redistricting happens. Sounds like you republicans need to move on and stop whining. That part of Herrity’s district shifts every time the county redistricts because of fluctuations between Springfield, Braddock, Mount Vernon, and Providence.

You already probably know this, but at this point the base of the Democratic Party is the professional class. When the Democrats propose using their kids to equitize schools, they end up significantly cannibalizing their base. And, before you continue your drivel about only republicans being against redistricting, I voted for Walkinshaw by mail because I can’t stomach what is happening to our country, but it sure as hell was a lot more difficult decision than it should’ve been - all because ignorant folks like you pretend that it’s just the republicans who want their kids to have good schools.
I won’t be voting for any Dem at the state level, unless the school board comes to its senses PDQ and shelves this entire disaster of a review. I wish that weren’t the case, but the ballot box is the only thing the school board seems to care about.

Parents want to be able to send their kids to school where they have a large enough peer group to offer a number of advanced classes and not have the course selection limited because of peer group size. They don’t want to be sending their kids to a school in a school situation. The high poverty, high ELL schools end up with two schools, the kids who are struggling academically and learning at or below grade level, and the kids in AP/IB. The AP/IB group is small, which makes course selection more challenging and prevents some options from being available.
It is easy to try and call people out for being “scared” or “racist” when what they want is a similar education to the kids at schools that are less impoverished.

The person was whining about poor old Herrity allegedly being “gerrymandered” out of his seat. Even though he easily won re election. No one is commenting on school boundaries here.
When the Chaiman Jeff McKay and the Fairfax Board of Supervisors gerrymandered 22152 in an attempt to gerrymander Herrity out of office, they also disenfranchised 50% of the families that send children to West Springfield high school and 70% of the families that send children to Irving middle school, by also gerrymandering aware our right to vote for the school board representative that represents our high school and middle school.
Do you know anything about local politics in Farfax County?
Our school board representation and voting districts are aligned to our Board of Supervisors voting district. They are one and the same.
Jeff McKay took away our right to vote for the school board rep that represented our high school and middle school. This is an accurate and non partisan fact.
If you knew anything about local voting districts, you would have been unable to write what you did.

This poster should’ve said DP. I think the ICE operation, tearing parents away from their crying kids, masked agents shoving innocent bystanders in the streets with impunity, etc., is un-American, hence my vote for walkinshaw.
The separate issue is that the school board is directly screwing over 8,000+ kids, by their own count, with a totally unnecessary, unwanted, uninformed, incomprehensible, boundary change led by Sniveling Sandy Anderson.
I just really loathe each side right now, but for obviously different reasons. One for destroying our country, the other for going after my kids. Dems should really admit defeat with the boundary study, because the hill only gets steeper from here once they get to the point where they can’t claim that “no decisions have been made.” That’s when the pressure will really dial-up.

Irving now sits in the Braddock district.
Half of Saratoga (zoned for Lewis) votes for the Springfield rep instead of the Franconia rep.
All of this was gerrymandered by Supervisor Chair McKay at the 11th hour at the last redistricting, in spite of many objections from West Springfield families and Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity. Nearly all of the redistricting in Fairfax County targeted dividing West Springfield into peacemeal voting districts, even the neighborhoods walkable to Pat Herrity's office on Rolling Rd and in spite of 22152 having the least population shift (least growth and least loss) in the entire county.
Voting for the Springfield rep instead of the Braddock rep just is not a valid argument against eliminating the Sangster split feeder and sending the entire school to Lake Braddock.
Redistricting happens. Sounds like you republicans need to move on and stop whining. That part of Herrity’s district shifts every time the county redistricts because of fluctuations between Springfield, Braddock, Mount Vernon, and Providence.
It’s not some vast left wing conspiracy.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Fairfax County School Board!
You already probably know this, but at this point the base of the Democratic Party is the professional class. When the Democrats propose using their kids to equitize schools, they end up significantly cannibalizing their base. And, before you continue your drivel about only republicans being against redistricting, I voted for Walkinshaw by mail because I can’t stomach what is happening to our country, but it sure as hell was a lot more difficult decision than it should’ve been - all because ignorant folks like you pretend that it’s just the republicans who want their kids to have good schools.
I won’t be voting for any Dem at the state level, unless the school board comes to its senses PDQ and shelves this entire disaster of a review. I wish that weren’t the case, but the ballot box is the only thing the school board seems to care about.
I’m not sure why you think the school board would respond to you voting R statewide. Youngkin won and the school board remained all democratic and I think by larger margins. Please don’t take your ire at the school board out on the statewide offices! If you can’t stomach what is happening in our country, you know we cannot afford to have a R governor doing everything Trump wants them to. Youngkin has already sat idly by while Trump destroys Virginia’s economy and do you want a DeSantis type who will remove public health measures? Let’s try to get some moderates running for school board next time and maybe we can have a better school board than this one. The statewide offices have nothing to do with the school board’s boundary review.
Many local residents fear being zoned to schools because of the large population of non English speakers. That is a direct result of a Federal government that was failing to enforce immigration law. And Spanberger wants to stop cooperating with ICE. So the various levels of government do matter.
