I have lived here for several years. From what my neighbors tell me, originally it was more of a place for families (1960's) but now the prices have increased so much that many residents are the older people who have owned their homes for decades. When they leave, the homes are torn down and replaced with the $2 million places. Even so, young families are increasing in McLean. The contingent of older people controls most of the civic decisions like the revitalization of downtown, and they don't want increased traffic or more amenities for young families.
