Maybe he'd like elon as a safety - It has around 6,000 undergrads (mostly from New England & DMV area), a pretty campus with nice dining halls, and a majority of classes there have less than 20 people in them.

The safeties DD applied to were already listed in this thread. I guess it depends on how committed the student is to a liberal arts college. DD preferred more selective schools but felt that she would have been happier overall at a small liberal arts college than a large state school, her other safety. (And merit aid helped make those liberal arts safeties seem like solid choices.)
We may be picking the wrong ones to visit. My DS also has a strong preference for liberal arts colleges, reads about ones that have a higher acceptance rate, is hopeful but then visits and is no longer interested. Based on the visits I think his reaction makes sense. He still needs more safeties though.
