This. And if she is already in the airlines system, it may flag if you enter a different birthdate than previously used and not allow you to purchase a ticket.

NP. You can ask for a gate pass so you can go through security with your kid and stay until with them until they board. That would mean though that you are most likely checking the kid in with an agent instead of going directly to security. Not sure if the agent would notice the birthdate on the ID checking in.

OP you chose this airline, you need to comply with their rules. Pay the fee. If you don't want to cancel the ticket and arrange with the other parent to meet in the middle for a hand off.

Pay the $300 -- avoid all this angst
