But that’s not why I didn’t buy one. The rink in moco was allowed to hold practices but not games. My 8-yo didn’t play a game this year at all. Lots of practice though. He should have been allowed to play a game. That’s what’s behind the signs...
Why does an 8 year need to play a hockey game?
My kid loves hockey as much as yours, I guarantee it.
He loves his grandparents more.
OMG! That is like, SO PROFOUND.... are you some kind of philosopher???
No I am a parent of someone with multiple losses during covid and some perspective.
With all due respect, you don’t sound like you do have perspective. People die every day.
As a society we have asked the KIDS to bear the brunt of the sacrifice for COVID even though they are least at risk. At best kids have had one year of their childhood (remember, you only get one) be totally shitty because people have decided to shame anyone (really, Johnny, don’t you love Grandma?) who thinks maybe we’re asking them to give up too much.
This, this, THIS!
Especially in Montgomery County. Lots of us parents realize how much the County has asked kids to give up.
Should we try and protect the elderly? Of course.
Did we need to put a large part of the burden on kids? Probably not.
Has Montgomery County complete mismanaged the pandemic? Most certainly.
Lots of other areas have allowed schools and sports to stay open (with safety measures in place) for kids’ mental and physical well-being. And it has worked out well. Montgomery County decided early on that it was fine to sacrifice kids’ well-being and it has negatively impacted so many of our youth. Of all races.
