Events that used to be “extreme” and happened on the order of once every hundred years are becoming more frequent. Texas will continue to experience these extremes over and over again in our lifetimes, where before it would have happened once at most. Look at hurricanes.

coal and oil are not limitless, and they pollute our environment. Green energy can be powerful if we spent as much money on it as we do coal, oil and nuclear. Green energy is also new compared to oil and coal.

After watching the Chernoybl documentary, I hesitate to use more nuclear powerplants.

What a great free rider example this is. The entire situarion is their own fault because they refused to pay for weatherization and backup supply. They even rejected the shared risk of interconnection. Now, we will be expected to bail them out.

Thats doable with gas. If you live in a disaster prone area, you should have supplies to deal with that. There are other water treatment options that don't require boiling.

Unfortunately, most of our houses rely on electricity. Our tankless water heater does use gas.
Also, our biggest threats weather wise are spring storms and tornados. It is normally a high here of 60 this time of the year. We are pretty good with heat but not this frigid stuff.
